Position Summary:

 This position will oversee and direct the back-end revenue cycle activities, initiatives and strategies of the company’s operations which includes Collections, Accounts Receivable, Customer Service/Call Center, and Cash Applications. 

The Director is responsible for enhancing and maintaining a properly functioning revenue cycle process through a cross-department organizational structure. Critical responsibilities include achievement of key performance measures which define revenue cycle performance, and both drive and maximize organizational and financial performance.

The Director is also responsible for ensuring all team functions, policies and procedures are updated, maintained and aligned with best practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for back-end functions of Revenue Cycle Management, including Collections, Accounts Receivable (A/R), Customer Service/Call Center, and Cash Applications.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with all RCM leaders and across the organization.
  • Assembles and analyzes daily, weekly, and monthly reports to assure proper staffing and workflow in all areas. Produces ad-hoc reports as needed.
  • Motivates and leads a high-performing leadership team; attracts, recruits, and retains required members of leadership as needed.
  • Responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass revenue, profitability, cash flow, and business goals and objectives.
  • Develops and monitors all back-end Key Performance Indicator reports, including staff quality and productivity and addresses concerns as needed. Ensures direct reports act with a sense of accountability and ownership as it relates to their workstreams.
  • Develops and monitors the monthly process of account transfers to vendors (e.g., collections), and ensures performance standards are being achieved.
  • Regularly works with the IT staff/software vendors to identify ways to standardize systems and ensures all back-end-related IT requests are managed and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provides input regarding goal setting, benchmarking, process development, etc.
  • Works with VP of Revenue Cycle Management to develop and implement revenue cycle strategy.
  • Provides input for setup, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of practice management and billing systems with support from the IT Department/software vendors.
  • Responsible for working with the RCM Training Q&A team to ensure appropriate training and education for all RCM Back-End staff members is delivered.
  • Responsible for developing and reviewing an annual budget for the RCM Back-End teams. 
  • Assists in developing policies and procedures as indicated and requested.
  • Participates in and/or leads special projects.
  • Interfaces and communicates with hospital administration(s), surgeon offices, and staff as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of all applicable federal and state privacy laws and regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Cooperates with the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights and other legal entities in any compliance reviews or investigations.
  • Assesses and responds to organizational and customer needs with innovative programs to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Monitors and supports daily staff functions in conjunction with the Revenue Cycle Management Team:
    • Hiring and training of all personnel
    • Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
    • Counseling employees both ongoing and as part of the annual review process
    • Ensuring performance standards are achieved as described in each individual job description
    • Scheduling and staffing assignments.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
