Overview: The Design Operations Specialist role is responsible for managing and maintaining the design system library, including components, patterns, visual assets, and documentation. They will ensure everything is organized, accessible, and up-to-date for designers and developers to easily access and utilize across different projects; essentially acting as the "curator" of the design system's knowledge base. They will also aid with operationalizing the design system, identifying inefficiencies, and improving processes.
Responsibilities:
- Organizing and categorizing assets: Structuring the design system library in a logical way, including clear naming conventions and proper tagging to facilitate easy searching and retrieval.
- Updating and maintaining documentation: Writing comprehensive documentation for each design system component, including usage guidelines, accessibility considerations, and code examples.
- Quality control: Regularly reviewing the design system library to identify inconsistencies, outdated components, and potential issues, ensuring the system remains accurate and aligned with brand guidelines.
- Content creation: Developing tutorials, style guides, and other educational materials to help users understand how to effectively utilize the design system.
- Collaboration with designers and developers: Working closely with design and development teams to gather feedback on the design system, identify new component needs, and incorporate updates into the library. Building and Documenting the design decisions while also maintaining and informing the team of design discrepancies. Support design operations objectives and goals.
- Version control: Managing different versions of the design system library, ensuring that updates are properly documented and communicated to relevant teams.
- Improve processes: Finding and addressing inefficiencies to make processes and workflows run more smoothly.
- Operationalize the design system: Aid with the operationalization of the design system across the cross-functional team.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills: Ability to structure complex information in a clear and accessible way.
- Attention to detail: Maintaining consistency and accuracy across the design system library.
- Technical writing skills: Writing clear and concise documentation for designers and developers.
- Design understanding: Familiarity with design principles, UI patterns, and accessibility guidelines.
- Collaboration skills: Working effectively with cross-functional teams to gather feedback and implement changes.
