Job description

 

Random House Worlds seeks a Marketing Manager to assist in the development and execution of marketing materials and campaigns across the licensed publishing list for high-profile brands such as Star Wars, Marvel, Disney, Dungeons & Dragons, Minecraft and more. The position provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in a creative and hands-on department, dedicated to creating best-in-class licensed books. We are a highly collaborative team who love to bring our authentic style of nerdery to our favorite pop culture worlds.  

 

Reporting to the Assistant Marketing Director, Brands & Licensing, the MarketingManagerwill work closely with the Random House Worlds Editorial, Publishing, and Publicity teams along with centralized departments across Penguin Random House including Sales and Marketing Design to develop materials and execute cohesive plans to reach fans of pop culture brands with the intent of creating awareness and driving sales.

 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about books and pop culture, and skilled in crafting and executing innovative marketing strategies in partnership with internal stakeholders and external licensors to maximize book awareness and sales.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns for select frontlist and backlist licensed titles 
  • Guide overall strategy for lists across brands seasonally; work closely with other licensing marketing and publicity teammates to create a cohesive licensing strategy 
  • Lead marketing update calls with licensors to keep all stakeholders updated and informed on current and proposed campaigns 
  • Submit all marketing materials for approval to the appropriate licensor  
  • Develop and manage marketing budgets for assigned titles, ensuring effective allocation of resources 
  • Create and route campaign assets and materials 
  • Collaborate with design, digital marketing, audio, school & library marketing to ensure unified marketing plans and messaging 
  • Represent campaigns, event strategy, and other opportunities in meetings with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Utilize market research and analytics to monitor trends and optimize marketing strategies and target audiences

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in book or product marketing driving go-to-market strategies for branded pop culture, media, or entertainment content. Experience in book marketing and/or a background in licensing and entertainment is strongly preferred.
  • A genuine interest in keeping up with trends in pop culture and nerdy media with a focus on licensed brands and publishing
  • Highly organized and able to communicate effectively and efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
  • Self-motivated worker comfortable working independently as well as with a team
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and remain solution-oriented
  • Willingness to learn and collaborate

 

The salary for this position is $73,500. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
