Job description

Position Purpose:
  • Advocate for clients' housing needs and rights

  • Advocate for policy changes and resources to address housing issues and improve program effectiveness

  • Assess the needs of resident families regarding housing and family stability to develop objectives and action

  • Assist clients in completing housing applications and paperwork

  • Collaborate with all involved agencies and organizations to facilitate the processing of housing applications

  • Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to address housing-related issues and attend community meetings

  • Conduct housing needs assessments for more complex individuals and families

  • Conduct screenings and eligibility determinations for housing assistance programs

  • Coordinate and manage housing programs within priority organizations and stakeholders

  • Coordinate intake processes and eligibility criteria for emergency shelter, rental assistance, sober living, and residential housing programs

  • Coordinate with providers to verify members are transitioned to housing placement timely

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for emergency shelter, rental assistance, sober living, and residential housing program deployments.

  • Develop and implement program goals, objectives, and strategies related to housing

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with housing providers, community organizations, and government agencies

  • Ensure compliance with funding requirements, regulations, and reporting guidelines

  • Evaluate program effectiveness and outcomes through data collection and analysis

  • Implement & Monitor policies and procedures to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of program participants in all housing settings

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of client interactions and progress

  • Maintain up to date housing database and document all services

  • Monitor program goals, expectations, metrics, budgets, expenses, and allocations assigned housing initiatives and priorities

  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of staff and interns involved in housing programs

  • Oversee the training, and supportive development of staff and interns involved in housing programs

  • Provide guidance and assistance in navigating housing programs and resources

  • Provide ongoing support and referral to case management to provide additional support to those with housing instability who are medically or socially complex

  • Provide technical and in-service assistance and support to staff and partners involved in housing initiatives

  • Provides oversight and support to housing specialist or comparable role.

  • Stay updated on housing policies, regulations, and resources to better assist clients by attending local trainings and conferences to promote development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Complies with all policies and standards

Position Objective: The Housing Management Specialist II plays a pivotal role in supporting housing providers and members to adhere to state and federal housing regulations and evidence-based practices. Their primary responsibilities include assessing the needs of individuals and families facing homelessness, facilitating access to resources, and ensuring the sustainability of permanent housing solutions. Moreover, they will work closely with the Housing Manager to refine existing housing programs, improve member placement processes, and enhance retention efforts. As a program expert in homeless services, the Housing Management Specialist will provide invaluable guidance and mentorship to colleagues, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for effective care management and coordination within the team.

Education/Experience:
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in servicing adults with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) or in a healthcare-related field.
Experience in non-profit housing services and a strong understanding of Continuum of Care Permanent Supportive Housing and Transitional Housing Programs.
Knowledge of fair housing, tenant's rights, and SAMHSA evidence-based practices.

Pay Range: $55,100.00 - $99,000.00 per year
