About The Role
We are seeking an experienced
Senior Advisor - Corporate Protection to be a member of our Security Area of Expertise (AoE), which is responsible for ensuring that Rio Tinto’s people, assets, and reputation are protected. This is accomplished by developing and implementing effective security and business resilience programs, systems, and processes are implemented consistently across the business
.
In this role, you will be a member of the Security AoE’s
Corporate Protection Team. This team of multi-skilled specialists focuses on the design, delivery, and assurance of Rio Tinto’s security, business resilience and recovery, travel risk management, and security and human rights governance frameworks.
Reporting to the
Senior Manager - Corporate Protection, you will
- Support the design, maintenance, and ongoing development of the Rio Tinto security risk management and business resilience and recovery governance frameworks, including tools and templates.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, new technology developments, and innovation in the security and business resilience and recovery disciplines and support ongoing improvements in these disciplines.
- Support 1st line enablement of assurance activities; and where required, support the delivery of 3rd line assurance activities.
- Support the development and delivery of 2nd line assurance activities across Group security and BR programs.
- Partner with Security Intelligence Practice and Security Business Partners to identify, scope, and develop processes and tools to ensure effective delivery of support to the business.
- Analyze data from internal and external audits on security function performance across the group and identify and develop measures to address gaps and inconsistencies in performance that could impact group objectives.
- Work with key stakeholders across the business on strategic projects and improvements to group-wide processes.
- Support the development and implementation of measures and processes to meet internal and external corporate reporting requirements.
- Collate and analyze security incident data and Business Resilience Team activations to identify exposures, trends, and emerging risks, and identify improvement opportunities as well as efficiencies.
- Establish and maintain processes to support the effective and efficient coordination of Group Security activities.
- Build and maintain internal relationships to implement effective processes to stay abreast of company internal and engagements that may require bespoke security support.
- Partner with Regional Security Business Partners in developing processes and reports to support the coordination/planning for personnel protection and travel risk management tasks for high-risk/high-profile activities.
- Support the delivery of security support to high-profile/high-risk corporate meetings and events
- Support the development, maintenance, and implementation of the Security & Human Rights program, including the armed security governance framework.
- Advocate and develop key internal and external partnerships to protect our social license to operate
- Support the implementation of the Group Travel Risk Control Framework.
- Implement processes to ensure visibility over travel to high-risk (security) destinations.
- Implement processes to ensure visibility over incidents that may affect travelers, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in developing fit-for-purpose response and support mechanisms.
- Fulfill the duties of the Site Security Champion for assigned work location.
About You
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant qualifications.
- Solid (10+ years) experience designing, implementing, and assuring security management and business resilience systems and processes.
- A background in law enforcement, military, private security, or emergency services.
- Security Industry recognized qualification or certification (CPP, PSP, CSMP) desirable.
- Solid understanding and experience in working with new technology and innovation in support of the security field (IA, Data mining, etc.)
- Multi-lingual - English is mandatory, and Mandarin is highly desirable.
- Robust understanding of security risk management, business resilience, and travel risk management processes and implementation.
- Advanced communication, facilitation, and influencing skills.
- Advanced knowledge of physical and electronic security controls and cost-effective implementation.
- Proven ability to develop fit-for-purpose policies, procedures, and tools to enable to effective delivery of security and business resilience programs.
- Project management.
- Highly effective organizational, time management, and analytical skills with an ability to work remotely and undertake business travel.

The Commercial group came under the leadership of the Chief Commercial Officer in 2018.
