Position Summary:

 

The DPA/Bond Post-Closing Underwriter is responsible for reviewing and ensuring the compliance of closed mortgage loans that are part of Down Payment Assistance (DPA) or Bond programs. This role requires a deep understanding of DPA and Bond program guidelines, as well as a thorough understanding of mortgage underwriting procedures. The DPA/Bond Post-Closing Underwriter will work closely with internal teams and external partners to resolve any issues that may arise during the post-closing process, ensuring the loan meets the necessary regulatory, investor, and program requirements.

  • Review and Underwrite DPA/Bond Loans:
  • Review closed loans that utilize Down Payment Assistance (DPA) or Bond programs to ensure full compliance with program guidelines, investor requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation for DPA/Bond eligibility (e.g., program approvals, funding sources, income verification) is properly included in the loan file.
  • Compliance with DPA/Bond Program Guidelines:
  • Ensure that all post-closing activities adhere to DPA and Bond program guidelines, as well as applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Stay updated on changes in DPA and Bond program requirements to ensure compliance with current standards.
  • Resolve Post-Closing Issues:
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in closed loan files, such as missing DPA or Bond documentation, inaccurate program certifications, or non-compliance with program eligibility.
  • Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and third-party partners to correct any issues in the loan file to ensure the timely delivery of compliant loans.
  • Investor and Program Delivery:
  • Prepare DPA and Bond loans for investor and program delivery by ensuring that all necessary documentation is complete, accurate, and in line with program requirements.
  • Work directly with government agencies, bond issuers, and DPA program administrators to ensure smooth loan delivery and program compliance.
  • Quality Control and Risk Management:
  • Conduct quality control checks on DPA/Bond loan files to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with program rules and regulations.
  • Monitor trends and suggest process improvements to enhance the quality and efficiency of DPA/Bond loan processing.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Ensure that all DPA/Bond loan documentation is properly organized, stored, and tracked in accordance with company policy and program requirements.
  • Assist in responding to audits and investor reviews, ensuring that all necessary documents are available and in compliance with DPA and Bond program requirements.
  • Communication and Coordination:
  • Work with internal teams (e.g., underwriting, closing, and compliance) and external partners (e.g., program administrators, title companies, investors) to ensure the smooth processing and resolution of post-closing issues.
  • Provide feedback to team members and help educate staff on DPA/Bond program requirements and best practices.

  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to resolve complex issues in loan files.
  • Proficiency in mortgage loan software, document management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Certification as a Mortgage Underwriter (e.g., CMB, DE, or other industry certifications).
  • Familiarity with state-specific Down Payment Assistance programs and local bond program regulations.
  • Experience with government agencies, housing authorities, and bond issuers in the context of DPA/Bond programs.

Desired Education / Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. A degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in post-closing underwriting with specific knowledge of Down Payment Assistance (DPA) and Bond program guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage origination, post-closing procedures, and compliance with DPA/Bond program requirements.

 

Work Authorization: Must be able to verify identity and employment eligibility to work in the U.S.
