Job description

Position Summary:

The Senior Product Manager works as part of a team responsible for product management across the full product life cycle and often engages with sales and technical teams to ensure new products and features are delivered with the highest quality and in accordance with customer needs.

As a senior member of the team and subject matter expert, they will work across a broad scope of product features and projects and address the more complex problems.


Primary Accountabilities:

  • Lead the design and end-to-end execution of business cases, product line pro-forma, or other decision analysis projects with supervision, exhibiting mastery of common techniques and frameworks for asking critical questions and conducting analysis.

  • Independently manage multiple parallel product initiatives of high complexity through the full product life cycle; define and manage multi-stage programs of high complexity; make resource trade-off decisions within a product line or program.

  • Understand competitive landscape and own the creation of a winning competitive strategy for a major product line, including implications for customer segmentation, profitability, and feasibility; designs and manages roadmaps for new products, enhancements, and end-of-life.

  • In collaboration with cross-functional teams, define and execute go-to-market strategy for high complexity initiatives with independence, and for large multi-stage programs does so with supervision; support sales efforts with product line-level expertise.

  • Be the owner of a Product(s) roadmap; develop a point of view based on a variety of inputs and desired outcomes, typically planning three months ahead.

  • Independently able to set strategic team specific OKRs and evaluate/prioritize initiatives to achieve those outcomes.

  • Able to assess high level technical feasibility and tradeoffs to help prioritization efforts.

  • Communicate with the team, product leadership and key stakeholders frequently and effectively.

  • Effectively communicate the product strategy and motivate the full team that contributes to product delivery.

  • Able to take a variety of diverse inputs and synthesize them into a compelling product story with little to no support.

  • Comfortable creating and giving presentations to senior levels of the company.

  • Develop an opinion and argue persuasively and constructively.

  • Provide cross functional influence within specific domain(s) of expertise; network with senior internal and external parties in their own area of expertise, when needed.

  • Ensure ideas are heard and respectfully challenge the ideas of others; advocate a position and encourage others with a sense of shared purpose and exciting possibilities.

  • Talk to a range of customers using their area of product and beyond, always looking for deeper insight; is recognized internally as an expert in customer problems for their area of product and is able to use this insight to effectively create the best possible value in their product area.

  • Anchor decisions in research; use research as a key input into problem and solution definition; proactively define the problems for their area of product we should be seeking to understand.

  • Committed ownership of the problem through to the solution within and across teams, peers, and partners.

  • Ensure the team internalizes prioritized slices of functionality defined for iterative delivery (including the WHY, to develop empathy and drive creative technical solutioning.

  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies; write user stories for complex features.

  • Able to break down work into smallest possible user story and identify proper sequencing of development tasks.

  • Able to spot product quality risks early and proactively work with partners to ensure final product quality is high; contribute to QA testing of product and features.

  • Identify and anticipate risks and issues and proactively find solutions to any obstacles.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business, technology or related area

  • 6-8 years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to complete the major responsibilities/essential functions of the position

  • Product Owner Certification

  • Proficient with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
