3 billion people across the world work in frontline jobs. Yet, despite rising costs and staff shortages, frontline organisations are still left to choose between paper, Excel, and WhatsApp, or decade-old workforce management solutions to take care of the most important part of their businesses - their people.
Enter Sona: the next generation of AI-native, frontline workforce management. We’ve built an end-to-end platform covering Scheduling, HR, Payroll, and Communications that gives the largest frontline organisations everything they need to staff more intelligently and empower their teams.
In under 4 years, we’ve already made a deep impact on the lives of over 100k frontline workers and the operation of their organisations, grown the team to 110+, and secured over $50M in funding from notable VC’s, including Felicis, Northzone, Gradient Ventures (Google), SpeedInvest, Antler, and Notion Capital, plus notable angels like Tom Blomfield (Monzo).
It’s a hugely exciting time to be joining the team as we’re still small enough that you’ll have a significant impact on the company’s growth trajectory and culture, yet large enough to have a great structure, experienced leaders and world-class benefits in place. More on working at Sona here.
About the Role
Can you distill complex concepts into their most simple essence? And can you then find the few, well-ordered words that make that exciting? If this is you, we have an opportunity for you.
Why? Because at Sona, we’re building something incredibly complex. And we need to make it simple and exciting so that the markets we don’t yet serve know what they’re missing out on.
Responsibilities:
As our first Product Marketing specialist; first you’ll get to grips with our current product (Scheduling, HR, Payroll, Comms), customer base (Social Care and Hospitality) and marketing activities (sales decks, events, content, webinars). You’ll need to think about how we brand an ever-growing product in ways that make sense now and for the future, and you’ll need to build a narrative that clearly articulates the way that these features help front-line businesses to succeed.
As you grow, the role will grow. We’ll look to you to make Sona Summits (our equivalent of Apple’s launch events) the must-attend industry event. We’ll also look to you as the voice of the customer, repeatedly banging the drum of what it is we should build so that we can articulate that to a customer. You’ll input into sales, product, customer success. And you’ll take what you see there and bucket it up into things worth shouting about.
Requirements:
So who are we actually looking for?
Most likely, you’re a generalist. You have experience and interest in Commercial, Product and Marketing. You could be a former strategy consultant, turned product manager at a start-up. You could be an ex-founder now looking for the safety of a multi-million revenue business but without losing the excitement of start-up life. Maybe you’re a Head of Product at a fast growing tech org and want to show us what good looks like.
Alternatively, you could be an industry expert, looking to rapidly unpigeonhole. Or a marketing veteran who wants to try their hand at product.
it's not about having previous product marketing experience; it's about being able to explain things in a way which gets people nodding.
What skillset might you already have?
We’re interested in the rate of development rather than current experience. Remember the old y = mx + c graph? It’s the m we’re looking for - largely because we’re looking for at least 3 attributes. So you may have 0 years’ experience of product marketing or you may have 100. What we care about is your ability to rapidly understand:
Businesses Impact: you grasp business problems quickly, and can articulate them well to different audiences. This may mean you’ve been a consultant in a previous or current life.
Product: you’re technically intuitive and can quickly get to grips with how software solves problems. You may have some product management experience, or even development experience, and you’re not afraid to play around with configurations, speak to developers or interrogate Product Managers on whether they’ve really understood a problem.
Marketing: you’re pithy. Your writing is engaging and you seek the simplest way to explain things, so that people always leave a room knowing the essence of what was said - even if it was a 2h talk.
Benefits:
Salary:
PMM £85,000 - £100,000
Senior PMM or Senior Manager £100,000 - £130,000
Depending on experience and will be discussed/assessed throughout the interview process
