We currently have a role open in the Northeast Services region for an apprentice electrician.

Job Overview

 Under general supervision of a Journeyman or Master Electrician, the apprentice electrician will:

Install, repair, maintain, and test electrical equipment and circuits performing at the safe level

Work on circuit modifications, power transition operations, addition, and removal of circuits on working power distribution sources, power system equipment test and turn-up.

 

Responsibilities

 Essential duties and functions may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

  • Perform work operations on working equipment or circuits with direct supervision of the master electrician.
  • DC Controller Software adds or upgrades. DC Power transition work (cut-over).
  • Addition or removal of telecom batteries. Addition or removal of circuits on working power distribution sources.
  • Perform equipment testing and turn-up.
  • Oversees volatile work activities inside energized equipment.
  • Installation of generator and transfer switches
  • Additions, removals, wiring connections, and modifications on working equipment and circuits.
  • Addition or removal of common systems equipment/hardware.
  • Addition or removal of wiring and connections on non-working equipment only.
  • Lead verification (voltage).
  • Analysis of job specifications and Engineering drawings.
  • Resolve job specifications and/or Engineering drawing problems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus one year experience in repair, testing, maintenance or installation of electrical systems or equipment.
  • Role will be 100% remote 
  • Applicant should reside in New Hampshire
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook / Excel / Word 
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 100% and willingness to work different evening and swing shifts.
  • Apprentice Certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift at least 40 lbs.
  • Ability to operate motorized lift equipment to maneuver, install or remove 80-750 lb. batteries
  • Frequently pushing or pulling of cables up to 60 lbs.
  • Frequently climbing ladders up to 8 ft.
  • Frequently working/standing on ladders for long periods of time
  • Continuous standing
  • Frequently reaching above, below or at shoulder level
  • Frequently bending, twisting, or stooping
  • Frequently crouching or squatting
  • Be exposed to varying environments with moderate noise levels, nominal variations in heat and cold
