Position Description:

We are looking for a talented and experienced Azure Cosmos DBA Engineer to join our team in Latin America. You will be expected to work autonomously and contribute to several high-impact projects including architecting the data pipeline infrastructure to support our customer's data needs.

 

You will be working in CST business hours. You will be part of team which will have on-call duties outside CST business hours as well and you would need to respond to a high-priority incident pager.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide Cosmos thought leadership in terms of governance and best practices for Cosmos DB design, security, and usage across the enterprise application with the ability to communicate and influence throughout the enterprise
  • Provide clear direction on when to use which Cosmos API
  • Mentor the data engineering team on maintenance/administration/security
  • Mentor and lead development and application engineering teams on Cosmos optimization and tuning
  • Guide and work on architecture and partitioning decisions to balance scalability and consistency
  • Optimize performance and cost through indexing, query tuning, and integrate Cosmos DB into CI/CD pipelines with the help of DevOps teams
  • Optimize cloud costs versus performance with Cosmos DB
  • Automate monitoring, alerting, and backups for availability, performance, and compliance
  • Evaluate new Cosmos DB features and recommend adoption strategies

Workplace: Remote Latin America

 

 

Must Have Skills:

  • 5 years of hands-on experience with Cosmos DB/Mongo DB/NoSQL
  • Expert knowledge of Azure Cosmos DB architecture and administration
  • Extensive experience designing and optimizing Cosmos DB resource models, containers, databases, and collections
  • Ability to properly size Cosmos DB by looking at access patterns and data growth to optimize performance and cost
  • Must be able to work with application engineering to tune query performance
  • Must be able to identify bottlenecks and optimize performance
  • Ability to script solutions for automation and testing

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Azure Data Factory a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Azure SQL Database/Azure Postgres a plus
  • Experience working on any other Database technologies hosted on Cloud is plus
