About the Role
Team Global Express (TGE) are seeking the support of a high calibre People Advisor to join our Operational People team.
The role involves partnering with people leaders on all aspects of the employment life cycle. Supported by the Business Partner, you will act as the first point of contact primarily for shift supervisors and managers. You will manage the resolution of People inquiries and issues within the respective state workforce and across a broader client group within TGE, on an as-needs basis.
A significant aspect of the role (while not the sole focus) is supporting management with workplace relations.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Coach and support leaders on people issues and processes, such as general People policy/legislation, payroll enquiries, Performance Management, compensation/remuneration, and terminations, including redundancies.
Assist with managing grievances and manage/conduct procedurally fair, less complex factual workplace investigations and work with leaders to develop corrective actions where appropriate.
Support the People Team in the provision of People services and initiatives.
Assist in the implementation of key People organisational initiatives and projects and processes including annual performance reviews.
Provide advice and interpretation of legislation, common law employment contracts and industrial instruments to leadership, employees and payroll as required.
Reinforce effective recruitment and onboarding processes, coaching managers through recruitment and assessing candidates based on skills, capabilities, values and behaviours.
Partner with the injury management team and BU leaders in the management of Workcover claims and personal injury or illness.
Manage specific projects as determined in the People planning process and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives.
Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Identify opportunities where the People function can add value to the business and streamline and simplify People processes.
Communicate and educate leaders and staff on Company programs, initiatives and policies as required.
About You

2 years minimum experience as an HR team member, ideally in a generalist capacity in an industrial/unionised environment.
Base level knowledge of relevant state and federal legislation relevant to business operations.
Experience in transport, warehousing and distribution or related industries will be ideal however not essential.
Experience assisting managers with performance management and counselling.
Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills.
Sound negotiating and influencing skills.
Demonstrated collaborative nature and a team player.
Excellent verbal, listening, written and communication skills
Strong ethical credibility and integrity
Attention to detail
Experience managing grievances and investigation of harassment and bullying allegations.
Diploma level qualification in HR (or similar) is a minimum requirement.
