The Role
At Barrel, the Account Manager (AM) plays a pivotal role in leading client relationships and guiding strategy to drive impactful results. AMs are deeply involved in understanding each client’s business, including their goals, objectives, business operations, competitive landscape and success metrics. They excel at developing and leading internal teams to deliver innovative strategies that leverage the best tools and technologies to address clients’ unique challenges and drive measurable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Own client relationships for assigned accounts, providing strategic leadership while serving as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders
Guide and advise clients on e-commerce strategies and best practices, conversion and AOV optimizations, and website enhancements
Lead cross-functional teams to ensure strategies are well-executed and projects deliver on client goals
Understand and anticipate potential roadblocks and challenges, in advance of them becoming issues for the client or internal team
Proactively share insights and ideas, helping clients achieve reach their business goals
Proactively research new tools and processes to support unfamiliar client needs, showing curiosity and a desire to learn
Facilitate new client onboarding, with a strong understanding of our standard Barrel processes and ways of working
Collaborate closely with Project Managers to oversee project progress, and ensure that client projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standard
Facilitate regular communication between clients and internal teams, ensuring that all parties are aligned and informed
Manage and negotiate scope changes, always aiming for the most beneficial outcome for both the client and Barrel
Monitor project health with a strong, ongoing understanding of profitability and the financial impact of project decisions
Contribute to the creation of detailed project briefs and ensure that all client feedback is accurately conveyed to the relevant teams
Contribute to business development process, when requested by Director, engaging with prospective clients and contributing to proposals and pitch decks
Skills
Working knowledge of the Shopify ecosystem, including platform features, apps, and integrations, with the ability to translate this knowledge into actionable strategies for clients
Analytical mindset with the intellectual curiosity to seek context and insight behind numbers, coupled with strong business acumen
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple clients and projects, balancing competing priorities effectively
Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
Self-motivated and detail-oriented
Level-headed and positive under pressure
Proficiency in project management tools such as Google Suite, Slack, Basecamp, JIRA, Harvest and Forecast
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple clients and projects, balancing competing priorities effectively
Experience
3-5 years of experience in an eCommerce environment, ideally in as an Account Manager, eCommerce Manager, Merchant Success Manager or similar
Agency experience a plus
Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing or similar field
Compensation
Salary range of $70k to $100k, depending on experience.
