Key responsabilities:

  • Ensure labor and employee relations strategies align with and support global and EMEA business priorities and goals
  • Advise senior and local management and HR on labor law, union contract interpretation and administration, and collective bargaining and social dialogue obligations
  • Provide key ELR-related leadership, guidance, and support in M&A-related due diligence, social dialog strategy and delivery, HR integration, and labor and employee relations issue spotting and addressing
  • Act as internal expert regarding employment practices; ensure compliance with Company policy, procedures, and programs
  • Oversee and ensure coordination of restructuring projects across EMEA businesses to minimize labor and employee relations risks and ensure compliance with all social dialogue, collective bargaining, and labor law-related obligations.
  • Play key role in developing and building internal consensus for deliberate, well-sequenced programs to achieve business footprint rationalizations, restructuring, and organizational changes with minimal labor and labor law-related delays and disruption, while ensuring alignment with overall ELR strategies
  • Stay abreast of relevant macro trends and legal developments; highlight potential impacts on business priorities to company leadership with recommended leveraging or mitigation strategies
  • Lead projects across countries
  • Support ELR COE’s mandate to ensure all obligations to Carrier’s European Works Council (EWC) are met, including information & consultation, scheduled meetings, responses to information requests, coordination of meeting agendas, and ensuring appropriate management representative participation.  Interact with and maintain professional working relationships with both EWC representatives and employee experts 
  • Develop, train on, and ensure proper flow-down of information to local works councils, and provide guidance to Carrier representatives serving as works council and labor relations leads to ensure social dialogue obligations and continued positive relationships
  • Influence and support business’ pre-negotiations collective bargaining strategy development, strike contingency planning, and economic alignment/approval process, to ensure alignment with overall EMEA and global business and labor strategies
  • Conduct and/or support internal HR-related investigations; report findings and make recommendations to senior leadership on resolutions
  • Develop and conduct HR and management training programs, including best practices in collective bargaining strategy preparation, positive employee management, M&A due diligence, and effective internal investigations
  • Collaborate with and support other HR COEs, Global People Services, and HR Business Partners with guidance, standard work, best practices, relevant legal changes/updates, and timely responses to requests for assistance to ensure seamless HR/ELR support
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve employee engagement and experience
  • Other employee and labor relations-related opportunities as needed/assigned

Travel in France and occasionally in Europe is expected 30% of the time in the first year. 

Your profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in labor law, labor and industrial relations, human resources management, or an applicable field, with solid hands-on experience in EMEA labor and employee relations, particularly in France. 

  • 6-10+ years of EMEA-focused employee and labor relations leadership, with demonstrated experience providing guidance and hands-on support to senior leaders and colleagues
  • Extensive knowledge of EMEA and France employment and labor law and ability to apply legal concepts to real world situations
  • Fast learner, able to readily apply knowledge gained in one situation to others
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to pull data from assorted sources and synthesis in both graphic and verbal format, such that it is easily understood by the target audience
  • Proven ability to influence and work effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated discretion, able to work with sensitive and confidential information, materials and possess good business judgment
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, across a wide audience
  • Unwavering customer service orientation
  • Superior follow-up and follow-through skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
