Position Summary:

Hillenbrand is actively seeking a Trade Control Manager to join our Global Trade Compliance team in a remote position. As the Import Trade Control Manager for the United States, you will have a strong background in U.S. customs, export control and sanctions laws and regulations to ensure compliance across our operations. You will be responsible for collaborating and cooperating with colleagues to develop and implement the global program for import compliance in the United States and other jurisdictions. The primary focus will be on import processes and procedures and enabling our systems and teams to successfully execute a comprehensive import control program. This role will report directly to the Executive Director, Global Trade Compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Hillenbrand’s Operating Companies and key stakeholders to develop and oversee an administrable technical roadmap for U.S. customs compliance tools and applications.

  •  Collaborate with global colleagues to update internal U.S. customs and global customs compliance procedures and processes.

  •  Serve as a subject matter expertise for all U.S. customs duty mitigation and deferral efforts including, but not limited to drawback, first sale, free trade agreements, FTZs, bonded warehouse etc.

  • Spearhead IT updates and requirements to ensure compliance tools are effective and up-to-date

  • Partner with IT staff and other stakeholders to refine and prioritize the development and deployment of tools for classification, country of origin and valuation.

  • Collaborate with global colleagues to deliver import training and a comprehensive import trade compliance guidance to organizational stakeholders

  • Demonstrate strong teamwork with good communication skills to effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Oversee additional trade control areas related to customs compliance regulations including internal testing and monitoring and continuous improvement activities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, supply chain, operations, engineering, or related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 – 7 years relevant work experience, demonstrated experience in customs compliance, proven experience or depth of experience in trade compliance, and solid knowledge of U.S. customs laws and regulations.

  • Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills, ability to work cross functionally with teams, and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • JD or Masters Degree preferred

  • Customs brokers license strongly preferred
