About the role

Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing EMEA, your mission is to lead marketing efforts and manage marketing personnel in the EMEA region for Helen of Troy’s Sport, Outdoor, Travel & Lifestyle (SOTL) Division(s) to achieve the brand/category financial targets & growth in line with OGSM. This is a unique leadership role with the opportunity to take Osprey & Hydro Flask iconic brands and activate them on a broader scale across EMEA. While these brands share formidable equity and an enthusiastic following into their respective categories, they face a variety of different challenges including regional and global competitors, as well as the need to develop effective, region and country specific strategies to engage consumers and grow in EMEA.

This role will work closely with Global Marketing teams to build Osprey & Hydro flask brands and bring local market and consumer expertise to forge deeper connections and success in EMEA. The role will also work closely with the EMEA sales leadership to collaboratively design and execute localized Go to Market Strategies & activations that support omni-channel EMEA sales goals and build these brands.

This role is responsible for all 360° marketing programs including ATL/BTL, digital marketing, social, consumer events, PR, retail display and collateral, trade shows, Direct-to-consumer business and supporting and applying market research for the brand. The role is also responsible for supporting the sales teams by providing key tools to help sales effectively convey brands and product and meet sales targets, including for owned markets as well as for the broad distributor network.

In regards to  EMEA ecommerce, this role is responsible for localizing web, eCommerce and retail platforms with content specific to the EMEA region. This includes multiple language support, product catalog adaptation, omnichannel solutions, and digital campaigns (email, social, search) as supported by local EMEA resources, divisional ecommerce leads, and IT.

What you’ll do in the role

  • Lead the localization of existing global marketing strategies and brand frameworks to ensure they are in line with Market & consumer trends
  • Drive the Marketing strategy implementation with Marketing COEs, Sales & cross functional teams
  • Set KPIs in line with OGSM targets & measure success
  • Lead EMEA Market research & consumer insight to ensure continuous Brand leadership vs competition
  • Analyze business performance and brand value proposition, monitor market trends and synthesize information from multiple sources to identify possible shifts in business needs and strategy
  • Recommend modifications to existing products and new product development to grow sales volume, profitability and market share
  • Lead and facilitate the sharing of learning, the nurturing of insight into action and implementation of related tactics
  • Lead the EMEA SOTL Marketing team, providing vision and guidance, including key people management roles: select, train, develop and manage the team performance, as well as succession plan
  • Identify and manage financial budget and people resources needed to deliver the SOTL marketing plans, including agreeing and monitoring the marketing budget
  • Work in close partnership with x-functional team leaders to ensure optimal compliancy & inventory levels to deliver against regional target
  • Drive brands and Go-to-Market strategies and translate them into actionable programs (launch activities, earned media, digital, display, consumer events, influencers, and promotion) to drive continuous business & distribution expansion across markets & channels
  • Lead & present SOTL Brand strategies & plans to sales organization across all LOBs, matching RMO & local needs and requirements
  • Develop & present joint business plans & marketing strategies with key customers, KOLs and influencers
  • Monitor regional performance through Marketing KPIs, maximize ROI, drive spend recommendations and decisions

What will help you do the job well

🗝 Essential:

  • University degree in marketing, business management or a related field required
  • 10 yrs + experience in international marketing and sales roles in Europe
  • Experience gained either through FMCG or similar field strongly preferred
  • Strong business acumen and financial awareness (P&L, NPV)
  • Experience in analyzing and maximizing ROI and make spending recommendations and decisions
  • Experience in setting local/regional marketing objectives, strategies, and budgets and in driving the execution of local plans. Experience in leading Operational planning processes
  • Strong analytical and research skills to monitor, analyze, and evaluate market trends, shopper behaviors, and competitor activities to identify market opportunities, support category management and portfolio development
  • Proven success in supporting Innovation and successful Product Development to drive shopper and customer value whilst aligning with global brand strategy and local commercial objectives
  • Proven success in developing brand campaign, media plans and digital/social initiatives supporting BTL activity to deliver a 360 approach that meets local market objectives
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written), Other European languages a strong plus (esp. French/German)
