Job description

This is a permanent full-time position commencing March 2025

About The Team

The School Staffing Support branch offers a consultancy service to schools in relation to workforce planning (including salary budget management), redeployment, and general workforce queries related to permanency, leave, position management and other human resourcing matters.

The team, consisting of a Principal Consultant and 11 Senior Consultants:

  • work closely with redeployed staff to transition them into new roles
  • coordinate central and regional services to support redeployees
  • provide practical short, medium and long-term workforce planning guidance to line managers, including principals
  • support schools in understanding and managing salaries in line with their one-line budget; including identifying redeployees where necessary.

The Role

As the Principal Consultant, School Staffing Support you will provide high level advice and support to the Manager, School Staffing Support. You will manage the team’s day-to-day activities and work with them to develop their skills and capacity.

You will drive key improvement and reform in relation to:

  • redeployment policy and practice, particularly in relation to case management and support for the redeployment experience for staff
  • individual school, region and system level workforce planning, leveraging the connected autonomy of public schools
  • strengthening the confidence and capability of school leaders in salary planning and management
  • embedding systems and practices that support school leaders to make workforce salary management decisions that meet the needs of their unique school communities
