CareDx is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Software Development to lead and manage all Lab Information Systems (LIS) and integrations with other applications that interact with LIS, including CRM and various billing systems. The ideal candidate will oversee the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC), including planning, executing, and closing projects, ensuring alignment with CareDx’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Lead and mentor the software development team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Manage cross-functional teams, ensuring collaboration and effective communication among developers, project managers, and stakeholders.
- Lab Information Systems (LIS) and Integrations Management:
- Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of LIS and integrations with other applications that interact with LIS, including CRM and various billing systems, ensuring they meet the operational needs of CareDx.
- Work closely with all the stakeholders in laboratory and clinical staff, Customer Service, and Billing to understand and address their software requirements.
- Ensure the systems comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Instrument Integrations:
- Manage and oversee the integration of laboratory instruments with LIS to ensure seamless data flow and efficient workflows.
- Collaborate with laboratory technicians and IT staff to implement and troubleshoot instrument integrations.
- Project Management:
- Plan, execute, and manage software development projects using Agile methodologies, including sprints and scrums.
- Coordinate and prioritize project tasks, manage timelines, and ensure successful project delivery within scope and budget.
- Track project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and provide regular status updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Collaboration with Application Leads:
- Work with application leads in architecting, designing, and implementing best-in-class solutions.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with the overall technology strategy of CareDx.
- Full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC):
- Oversee all phases of the SDLC, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Ensure the application of best practices in software engineering, quality assurance, and documentation.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in software development.
- Promote a culture of innovation by encouraging the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in software development and project management, preferably within the healthcare or life sciences industry.
- Strong knowledge of Lab Information Systems (LIS) and integrations with other applications that interact with LIS, including CRM and various billing systems.
- Expertise in Agile methodologies, including sprints and scrums.
- Strong understanding of all functions in LIS, including pre-analytics, wet lab and dry lab workflows, post-analytics, revenue cycle management workflows, and instrument integrations.
- Knowledge of compliance requirements such as HIPAA and CAP.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
