Job description

Senior Account and Fundraising Strategist

Remote Position | Must live in the USA | Full Time or Freelance Option

Media Cause is an award winning, mission-driven marketing and creative agency that helps nonprofits grow and accelerate their impact. We take a people-first approach to developing powerful creative, scalable growth strategies, and targeted communications that connect with individuals across their entire supporter journey: from awareness and recruitment to fundraising and advocacy, and every touchpoint in-between.

As of 2024, Media Cause consists of 60+ full-time employees along with a network of talented consultants. We have offices in Boston, Washington DC, Atlanta, and San Francisco, as well as a few team members who work remotely on a permanent basis. Our agency has grown in size every year since our founding, landing on the Inc. 5000 list for the fastest growing private companies in America three times. We have built a strong business, although impact will always be our North Star. In addition to winning 19 creative and effectiveness awards for our client work in 2022, Media Cause was also honored by Inc. Magazine with a Best In Business Gold Award for our positive impact on our community, our industry, and society as a whole.

Media Cause is looking for a Senior Account and Fundraising Strategist to help accelerate the growth and impact of organizations doing good in the world by creating digital marketing and communications strategies for nonprofit and social good organizations.

Who You Are

This position is ideal for someone with a strong direct response or digital fundraising background, experience in email production, and a technical mindset for data analysis and reporting. While this role is primarily focused on execution, we are looking for someone eager to learn strategy and grow into a leadership role over time.

Key Responsibilities

Campaign Execution & Email Production

Build, test, and deploy fundraising and engagement email campaigns across various platforms (e.g., Engaging Networks, EveryAction, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Luminate, etc.).

• Set up audience segmentation, A/B testing, personalization, and dynamic content to optimize performance.

• Troubleshoot email deliverability issues and improve inboxing rates.

• Manage email calendars and ensure campaigns are launched on time.

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Track and analyze performance metrics for email, donation pages, and paid media campaigns.

• Create custom reports and dashboards to monitor trends, identify insights, and optimize future campaigns.

• Work with data teams to ensure proper UTM tracking, CRM integration, and attribution modeling for multi-channel campaigns.

• Assist in donor file segmentation and list hygiene practices.

Process Improvement & Strategy Support

Support the development of fundraising strategies, donor journeys, and campaign plans.

• Research emerging trends, tools, and best practices in digital fundraising.

• Work closely with strategists to develop testing roadmaps and optimization strategies.

• Collaborate with designers, copywriters, and media buyers to align creative with data-driven insights

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years in digital fundraising, direct response marketing, or email production.

• Experience with at least one nonprofit CRM or email platform (e.g., Engaging Networks, Luminate, EveryAction, Salesforce).

• Familiarity with Google Analytics, Looker Studio, or other reporting tools.

• Some knowledge of HTML/CSS for email production is a plus.

• Strong understanding of email deliverability best practices, segmentation strategies, and A/B testing methodologies

• Strong data analysis skills—comfortable working in spreadsheets, interpreting trends, and making recommendations.

• Understanding of UTM tracking, CRM integrations, and reporting dashboards.

• Bonus: Experience with SQL, APIs, or automation tools like Zapier.

• Detail-oriented, with strong execution skills.

• Excited to learn more about fundraising strategy and donor engagement.

• Collaborative and proactive—always looking for ways to improve processes and performance.
