Job description

CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Product Manager. This role supports business operations by analyzing industry trends and product line data. The Assistant Product Manager is responsible for ensuring that rates and filings are accurate and submitted to regulatory agencies in a timely manner. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the maintenance and development of commercial insurance products, ensuring their seamless integration into policy administration systems, underwriting tools, and workflows for employees, agents, and insureds. This position also promotes underwriting integrity, regulatory compliance, efficient workflows, and a positive user experience.

Job Description:

  • Monitor performance for assigned line of business to ensure alignment with corporate initiatives for profitability and growth.
    • Monitor KPIs & updates scorecards by state and line and reports out as necessary
    • Monitor loss activity of internal and industry data to perform trend analysis.
    • Recommend rate action for loss costs, LCMs, coverage amendments to ensure profitability
  • Collaborate with business partners in Actuary, Corporate & Field Underwriting to achieve desired rate change, growth and profitability
  • Ensure regulatory compliance giving guidance to Product/Filings Analyst of recommendation actions, working with Actuary, Legal and Corporate UW
  • Performs competitive analysis for vertical development and state expansion strategies and ensure competitiveness of current products
  • Builds Product resources and documentation to facilitate training and adoption of new products.
  • Partner with our Underwriting Systems team to design and build policy administration system to meet our business needs and improves productivity through underwriting, policy & coverage design, and customer experience.
  • Accountable to regions for effective communication surrounding strategy and execution
  • Query data to conduct ad hoc analysis of metrics and answer business questions.
  • Researches and analyzes questions/issues raised by Dept of Insurance during filings. Collaborates with partners in Actuary, Billing, Legal and Corporate UW as needed and presents recommendations.
  • Presents findings of analysis to management.


Qualifications/Competencies:

  • BS/BA college degree. The knowledge and skill levels acquired through undergraduate level studies especially in the areas of business administration or a related field, and a minimum of 4 years of experience in the commercial insurance industry.
  • Minimum 3+ years of full-time work experience in insurance, with a strong commercial lines preference, can be utilized on a year for year basis as a substitute for a degree.

  • Strong knowledge of data & analytics.
  • The ability to create and maintain scorecards with key KPIs.
  • Knowledge of underwriting systems (policy and portal) and ability to effectively articulate requirements for IT
  • Ability to create a comprehensive strategy and or cost-benefit analysis and present it to a broad executive stakeholder group for support
  • Ability to interpret, apply and explain federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations and proceedings, and ensure compliance.
  • Ability to translate technical information and create practical written instructions.



Salary Range:

  • $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 annually
  • Compensation may vary dependent on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
  • In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.
