Position Description
The Netherlands sales team at QIAGEN are based throughout the Netherlands, working from home offices and travelling to support customers within different geographic regions. Our sales team work with Diagnostic, Academia and Biotech customer to facilitate a customer-centric service and provide them with Sample to Insight solutions. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Account Manager to join the team and drive and grow sales across the QIAGEN portfolio across the Middle/North part of the Netherlands (Utrecht to Groningen).
The Account Manager will be key in shaping and aligning customer requirements with the ideal QIAGEN solutions. You will be responsible for protecting, growing and proactively searching for new business within the assigned territory.
Key responsibilities:
- Budget achievement within the assigned territory. This activity will require a high level of business development experience, including the implementation of strategic business plans at higher levels within organizations.
- Clearly identify and interpret customer needs, shape and align their requirements to the capabilities of QIAGEN and position our solutions effectively.
- Support customers throughout the product lifecycle and provide customer demonstrations and training when needed. Support all procurement processes, including negotiating contracts, and accelerating the closing process with end users and purchasing departments.
- Effective weekly and monthly planning of field based activities, providing accurate sales forecasts to sales manager via regular forecast calls and contemporaneous logging in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Maintain and expand market knowledge including Diagnostic and life science technology trends, commercial awareness of competitors, and latest scientific findings.
- Work closely with a team of Application and Sales specialists within the region to build and execute on business plans.
Position Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor of Science, PhD or equivalent laboratory experience advantageous. A strong background in Life Sciences and or Molecular Diagnostics and a well-developed technical aptitude in modern molecular procedures including DNA/RNA purification, PCR, Next Generation Sequencing, digital PCR is essential. Knowledge of QIAGEN products preferred.
- Relevant sales experience essential, with a demonstrable understanding of business practice in the industry and knowledge of relevant markets.
- Experience in the handling of complex sales, selling capital equipment and proven experience of selling techniques to drive closing sales. Experience of creating and executing strategic business plans in a proactive manner without considerable direction to accomplish the planned goals.
- Must have experience of working well under pressure, prioritizing according to the needs of your customers, territory and overall business, with the ability to accommodate urgent tasks where required. Provides “solutions, not problems” in response to dealing with complex situations.
- Located within the Netherlands with a willingness to travel to customer sites 80% of the time.
- Fluent Dutch and English language skills are required.
