Job Summary

The anticipated duration of this temporary assignment is approximately 2 months.

The Quality Assurance Epidemiologist position is assigned to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Tuberculosis Control Branch, in Richmond, CA. Tuberculosis, the leading infectious disease killer in the world, continues to be an important public health concern in California.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works as part of the Tuberculosis Registry team to ensure complete and accurate reporting of all cases of TB in California
  • Develops subject matter expertise in TB case reporting and case counting guidelines
  • Acts independently to assist local health department staff in meeting TB reporting requirements
  • Has primary responsibility for quality assurance of TB case reports, including generating, distributing, and following up on quality control listings
  • Contributes to the quality assurance of other TB surveillance data
  • Leads trainings on case reporting and the use of web-based electronic surveillance systems
  • Develops analytic plans in response to questions about TB cases and multi-drug resistance (MDR) TB
  • Performs data management and analysis, interprets results, and summarizes findings for stakeholders
  • Develops and contributes to reports, presentations, and manuscripts

Department Description

UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.

Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing. Skills in project management.
