ABOUT THE JOB

Bonfire is seeking a skilled Data Manager to take ownership of our analytics and reporting, refine our data infrastructure, and deliver actionable insights to stakeholders. In this role, you will engage with stakeholders to gather and understand their data needs, design and build solutions for collecting, organizing, and utilizing data effectively. You will also develop and maintain the data pipelines that provide critical information to analysts, stakeholders, and end-users, empowering them to make well-informed decisions.


This role lies within our Data department and reports to the Director of Engineering (DoE).

Bonfire is currently supporting a virtual work environment; however, this is a full-time employee position and is only open to candidates residing in the United States and Canada.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES


Data Engineering:

  • Maintain and improve data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehouse architecture for accurate and timely reporting
  • Own all definitions, models, and dimensions in our Data department
  • Build and maintain our Data Lake and Data Warehouse


Analytics & Reporting:

  • Develop dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to track key metrics and support business decisions
  • Build recurring and ad-hoc reports tailored to specific team needs (e.g., marketing campaign performance, product usage trends, or sales funnel metrics)


Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Create and execute a departmental strategy to achieve company-wide goals
  • Work directly with teams (e.g., Product, Marketing, Sales) to gather requirements and deliver actionable insights
  • Translate business questions/requirements into specific data analysis and reporting tasks


Data Governance: Ensure data quality, security, and compliance across systems.


Tool Management: Manage analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, AWS Redshift)


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES


  • Strong experience in data analytics and reporting, with a proven ability to translate complex data into business insights.
  • Proficiency in SQL databases (Postgres), and programming languages most applicable for the specific task (Java/Scala/C/Python)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and AWS cloud-based databases (AWS RDS – PostgreSQL, Redshift)
  • Experience with AWS ecosystem and knowledge of data pipeline development and ETL processes – AWS Glue, DMS, Step Functions, Lambda
  • Experience in running and operating a Data Lake and Data Warehouse
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work directly with stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize and deliver in a dynamic environment.
  • Thrives in an autonomous role
  • Extremely detail oriented


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Graduate, College Degree (BS or MS) preferred
  • Fluent English (written and spoken)
  • Proficient with SQL databases (Postgres), and programming languages most applicable for the specific task (Java/Scala/C/Python)
  • Experience in running and operating DWH, ideally in AWS environment
  • 4+ years of experience working with Data
  • Consistent access to a reasonably distraction free home work space, with reliable access to high-speed internet and use of a smart phone/mobile device.
  • Technologically savvy, with strong computer skills and the ability to embrace and adapt to changes to technology that is critical to how we work.
  • Good working knowledge of the primary Google business, productivity and collaboration tools/software.
