Your opportunity
Dillon’s Communities and Environment technical group is looking for a Water Resources Designer to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

Responsibilities:
What your day will look like
Coordination and Design
- Provide assistance to project managers with civil-environmental engineering projects in support of stormwater management, municipal servicing, and hydrologic and hydraulic assessments for planning level, preliminary and detail design assignments within the transportation, land development, private industry, and municipal infrastructure business sectors under the supervision of experienced water resources practitioners.
- Complete watershed and sub-watershed scale hydrology investigations and hydraulic assessments of open channel and closed pipe systems.
- Coordinate water resources contributions to a wide range of small to large multi-disciplinary projects.
- Evaluate impacts of climate change on water resources infrastructure and design solutions to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
- Develop, coordinate, and participate in field inspection, reconnaissance, data collection and monitoring programs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
- Prepare project reports, documentation and presentations.
Business Development
- Contribute to business development activities including assistance in the preparation of project proposals and presentations, and client need research.
- Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request.
Learning and Development

- Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.
Qualifications:
What you will need to succeed
- Degree in civil or water resources engineering. A Master’s degree will be considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Desire to grow in your career in a challenging environment that fosters self-improvement through leadership, mentoring and a diversity of experience.
- One to two years’ work experience in the consulting industry, although entry level staff will also be considered.
Experience:
- Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling systems that may include professional working experience with HEC-RAS, Visual OTTHYMO, InfoWorks ICM, PCSWMM, and others.
- Experience in the design of stormwater management systems, culverts, bridges, sewers and open channel systems.
- Familiarity with local regulations, policies, guidelines, and provincial and municipal permit requirements for environmental agencies.
- Experience in working on detailed design of stormwater management features.
- Knowledge of the Drainage Regulations and land drainage projects would also be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with CAD software, preferably AutoCAD Civil 3D, and GIS software like ArcGIS will be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with programming languages like Python, R or MATLAB will be considered an asset.
- Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are essential.
