Overview:
We are designing the grid of the future!
Be a part of an innovative team shaping the grid of the future through advanced energy intelligence. For more than half a century, Electric Power Engineers, (EPE) has partnered with power and energy clients across the globe providing consulting expertise and energy intelligence software solutions for complex engineering and grid modeling challenges. As leaders in the renewables space, we are focused on building a modern, secure, and resilient gid. Join us in making an impact on the communities we serve and the environment in which we live. Together we can transform the future of energy.
Responsibilities:
Join us in leading the change!
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the design and analysis of substation foundations, steel structures, and transmission lines. This role involves utilizing advanced tools like PLS-CADD and industry standards to deliver reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality designs. The candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support infrastructure projects in the power transmission and distribution sector.
How you can make an impact:
Substation Design:
- Design and analyze foundations for transformers, circuit breakers, and other substation equipment.
- Perform structural design and detailing of steel structures such as bus supports, gantries, equipment stands, and control buildings.
- Conduct geotechnical reviews to integrate soil data into foundation designs.
- Prepare detailed drawings, material specifications, and construction documents for substation civil/structural works.
- Perform seismic and wind load analysis for substation structures in compliance with applicable codes (ASCE, IEEE, and ACI).
- Coordinate with electrical engineers to ensure optimal placement of equipment and cable trenches.
Transmission Line Design:
- Utilize PLS-CADD to model transmission line profiles, analyze line clearances, and design tower spotting.
- Design and analyze transmission line structures, including poles and lattice towers, for mechanical and structural integrity.
- Perform conductor tension analysis and verify compliance with sag/tension requirements.
- Develop foundation designs for transmission line towers and poles.
- Ensure designs meet industry codes (NESC, AISC, and IEEE) and client-specific standards.
- Create and review drawings, BOMs, and construction packages for transmission lines.
General Responsibilities:
- Conduct site visits to gather data, assess conditions, and support construction as needed.
- Perform load calculations, stress analysis, and structural optimization for substation and transmission line components.
- Collaborate with project managers, drafters, and other engineers to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Conduct quality checks on designs and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including addressing RFI (Requests for Information) and field modifications.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and changes to design codes and standards.
