Zinio is looking for a Human Resources Director in their Barcelona office.

As a pioneer Zinio operates online web newsstands and award-winning iOS and Android apps, providing access to digital magazines & articles in more than 30 languages, which can be read online and offline on any platform.

Zinio Pro converts print magazines to digital content through a Software as a service (SaaS) platform that transforms PDF to other formats such as XML, ePub or ANF and distributes it to different platforms such as Amazon Kindle, Apple News or Zinio Pro’s white label publisher web and mobile apps.

The company has delivered 500M digital magazine editions across more than 6k titles from 1.3k publishers in 200 countries to over 10M customers.

Role Overview  

As the HR Director, you will lead a team of two in the HR department in Spain while collaborating closely with the global HR team. This role reports directly to the CEO of Zinio.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with Zinio’s business goals and eCommerce objectives.
  • Provide strategic HR leadership, ensuring alignment with overall company policies and practices in alignment with global HR function.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on HR-related issues and organizational development.
  • Oversee recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes to attract and retain top talent within the eCommerce division.
  • Implement and manage employee development programs, performance management systems, and succession planning.
  • Address and resolve employee relations issues, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Lead initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness and employee engagement within the eCommerce division.
  • Develop and execute training and development programs to enhance employee skills and support career growth.
  • Drive change management processes to support business transformations and operational improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Oversee HR operations, including compensation and benefits administration, HR metrics, and reporting.
  • Manage HR budget and resources effectively to support division needs.
  • Promote a strong organizational culture that reflects Zinio’s values and enhances the employee experience.
  • Implement programs and initiatives to increase employee satisfaction and retention.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role within the eCommerce or technology sector.
  • Proven track record in managing HR functions, talent management, and organizational development.
