Job description

Job Summary

This position is responsible for preparing the investment portfolio forecast, attribution/variance analysis, and create presentation materials for communicating those results to senior management.  In addition, the position is also responsible for supporting the multi-year plan process, including preparing investment-related aspects of the plan model and related presentation materials. This position will work with multiple teams throughout the company, including but not limited to Investment Strategy, Investment Accounting, FP&A, Financial Reporting, and Risk, and will interact with all levels of Investments & Finance, including the senior leadership team.

The Investments FP&A function sits within the Investment Strategy department at F&G.  This position reports to the Manager, Investments FP&A and will have no direct reports but works with multiple teams. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and partner with individuals including the leaders across the business to provide value-added insight into the investment portfolio’s forecast thorough analytical approach.
  • Support investments multi-year planning, forecasting and monthly plan vs actual analysis.
  • Enhance investment portfolio performance reporting and provide NII key attribution/drivers.
  • Participate in an efficient and comprehensive process for developing financial plans (annual budgets, monthly re-forecasts, and long-range strategic plans) related to the investment portfolio, linking analysis to the strategic objectives.
  • Prepare a monthly reporting package related to the investment portfolio for executive leadership that includes earnings analysis, selected elements of the financial statements, KPI’s, and insights into key investment portfolio trends.
  • Prepare and deliver reporting on the Investment portfolio’s budget and forecasts to external & internal key stakeholders.
  • Contribute and assist with preparation of ad-hoc investment forecasting needs.
  • Support SOX compliance and adherence to an effective internal control environment as it relates to the investment planning process.
  • Support culture of financial transparency and continuous improvement.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  •  Minimum of 2 years experience required  in investment accounting, and financial reporting, required. FP&A experience preferred.
  • CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
  • Experience with general ledgers, databases and report writing is desired.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of STAT and GAAP investment accounting required.
  • Knowledge of annuity and life insurance products preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others
  • A passion for new challenges, leadership and delivering results
  • Strong intuitive and analytical skills
  • Ability to handle multiple complex tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think ahead and conduct strategic planning
  • Expertise and experience of improving processes and utilizing technology to improve efficiencies
  • Self-directed individual who works well with teams

Other Requirements

  • Perform other functions, duties and projects, as assigned.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • Minimal travel required (less than 10%).
