This is an exciting opportunity for a co-op student to gain valuable, hands-on experience to shape and contribute to the growth of the company while gaining credit towards their educational requirements in their field of study. The Co-op students will be offered an opportunity to acquire insurance and business knowledge as well as participate in handling practical applications of finance. The co-op student will have an opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams and work on a variety of projects that will keep you engaged and continuously learning.
Prepare financial information and reports for senior management and regulatory filings.
Prepare or review reports and complete surveys for internal and external stakeholders
Research and implement solutions for complex new and existing transactional accounting issues.
Work with other Finance team members to continuously improve and automate team processes and templates
Participate in projects and initiatives as assigned
Provide back up to the team and support other business units as required
Participate in the internal and external audit process, as requested
Eligible students must be registered as a full-time post secondary student in an accredited institution.
Knowledge of Accounting, Finance and Data Management
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Attention to detail/accuracy
Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks
Ability to think logically, analyze, solve problems, and learn new technology
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Interest in pursuing a CPA designation is a plus
Available/eligible to work for 4 to 8 months co-op placement
This role is hybrid, mostly working remotely and partly from our University Ave office or York Mills office.
