Job description

Manager, Learning Management System (LMS)

The target hiring range for this position is $95,000-$108,000.

Position Summary:

The Manager, Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator will be responsible for configuration, security, and integration of the LMS (specifically Canvas) software. This role will collaborate closely with instructional designers, technical specialists, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, architect solutions, and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions that drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and mentor technical specialists I, II, and III
  • Configure and customize the LMS to meet organizational needs, including system settings, user management, permissions, reporting, automated workflows, and integration with other systems
  • Partner with instructional designers to gather and analyze requirements, identify application needs, and recommend suitable solutions
  • Customize and configure off-the-shelf applications and software solutions to meet specific business requirements, leveraging APIs and integration tools
  • Implement and manage application integrations between different systems, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability
  • Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and performance tuning to ensure the reliability, scalability and security of applications
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting assistance, and training to end-users on application functionality and best practices
  • Document system configurations, integration points, and processes to ensure clarity and maintainability of applications
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in application development and automation
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Education Technology, Computer Science, or related field; and/or equivalent experience and certifications
  • 3 to 5 years Canvas LMS experience
  • 2 to 4 years supervisory/leadership experience
  • Experience with database software, Excel, and data analytics tools
  • Proven experience as an LMS administrator with a focus on application development and integration
  • Familiarity with application integration technologies and protocols, including RESTful APIs, SOAP, and ETL tools
  • Knowledge of design software and editing tools (e.g., Articulate) is preferred
  • Some knowledge of HTML, SharePoint, JavaScript is also beneficial
  • Demonstrates excellent people skills for working with both technical collaborators, non-technical collaborators, and learners
