The Role: Telgorithm is looking to hire a part-time HR Generalist (up to 20 hours per week) to manage a variety of HR functions. This is a contract position that will initially focus heavily on recruitment (60-90 days) before shifting to broader HR responsibilities, including onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, and compliance. The HR Generalist will work closely with the CEO, Aaron Alter, and other key leaders in the organization to ensure alignment between our team’s needs and HR strategies. This is a dynamic role ideal for someone who thrives in a startup environment and is looking to make a significant impact.

Location: Remote in United States or Canada
Compensation: $65–100 per hour, based on experience
What you’ll do
- First 30 Days: Onboarding is pretty self-directed, so you’ll need to be independent from Day One. You will work with the CEO, CTO, and management team to understand recruitment needs and priorities. You will lead the full-cycle recruitment process for various positions, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and coordinating with hiring managers. You will develop job descriptions, post job openings on relevant platforms, and manage applications. You will build and maintain talent pipelines for current and future hiring needs. You will provide a positive candidate experience, ensuring clear communication and timely feedback. You will collaborate with leadership to refine recruiting strategies and processes.
- First 6 Months: You will manage the employee onboarding process, including documentation, orientation, and introductions to the team. You will support the implementation and improvement of performance management processes, including goal-setting, feedback, and annual reviews. You will actively promote a positive and inclusive company culture through employee surveys, feedback sessions, and recognition initiatives. You will ensure that the company is in compliance with local, state, federal, and international regulations related to employment, benefits, and workplace policies. You will provide day-to-day HR support to employees, answer questions related to benefits, policies, and employee relations, and assist with HR reporting and documentation.
What you’ll bring
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in an HR generalist or recruiting role, ideally within a startup or fast-growing company.
- Recruiting Expertise: Proven experience in full-cycle recruitment, including candidate sourcing, interviewing, and selection for technical positions (e.g., software engineers, systems analysts, technical support specialists).
- HR Knowledge: Solid understanding of key HR functions such as onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, and compliance.
- HR Certifications: PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar certification preferred.
- Experience with EoR: Prior experience with an Employer of Record (EoR) required; experience with Deel specifically is a plus.
- Experience with and without PEOs: Prior experience working with in both a PEO and non-PEO environment for companies with fewer than 100 employees.
- Compliance Expertise: Must be able to answer basic and intermediate HR compliance questions related to employment laws and regulations.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to foster strong relationships across teams.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think creatively and solve complex people-related issues.
- Flexibility: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to shift focus as priorities evolve.
