Summary:
The Data Scientist will support our research, product, sales, leadership and marketing teams with insights gained from analyzing company data. The ideal candidate is adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. They must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations. They must have a proven ability to drive business results with their data-based insights. They must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Select and employ advanced statistical learning models to obtain actionable insights.
Cross-validate models to ensure their generalizability.
Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
Suggest ways in which insights obtained might be used to inform business strategies.
Actively engage with key internal and external technology partners
Collate, clean, and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
Visualize data and create reports.
Align data projects with organizational goals.
Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.
Collaborate with data engineers to put machine learning models in production following best practices in machine learning operations (MLOps)
Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes
Technical Knowledge Requirements:
5+ years of experience manipulating data sets and building and operationalizing functional statistical models
Proficiency in Python or R, where the former is preferred.
Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
In-depth knowledge of SQL.
Experience using Apache Spark to process large data sets.
Experience querying databases and using various languages: R, Python, SQL.
Experience using Amazon Web Services: Athena, Glue, EMR, RDS, S3, SageMaker, etc.
Experience creating and operationalizing advanced machine learning algorithms: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using: Tableau, D3, ggplot, etc.

Relationship building with technical and non-technical personnel
Research new tools on the market and evaluate their value within the company.
Ability to develop strategic roadmap and serve as SME in related area
Education/Training:
MS degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field
5+ years of data modeling experience
5+ years of Python, Java, R, SQL
4+ years of experience with algorithm development, tuning, and operalization
2+ years of experience with AWS cloud services: EMR, RDS, Glue, Athena, S3, SageMaker
Experience with Neo4j Graph Database, Mulesoft, and Graphql a plus.
The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $108,300.00 - $127,400.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs.For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
