Job Purpose & Impact

As a Business Development Lead at AnswerLab, you will be pivotal in driving sales growth and fostering meaningful relationships with Fortune 1,000 clients. Your primary mission will be identifying, securing, and nurturing business opportunities to expand our portfolio and manage profitability. This role combines strategic business development with a deep understanding of the UX space, enabling you to deliver tailored solutions that address client needs. Collaborating with internal teams, you will partner with our research leaders to contribute to crafting UX strategies to meet client needs while representing AnswerLab as a trusted advisor. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in sales, has a passion for digital products, combined with exceptional communication and client service skills.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales Growth

  • Drive revenue growth by building and managing a portfolio of $1–$2M in sales annually.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities, particularly within Fortune 1,000 and tech companies.
  • Develop and execute account plans to expand client relationships and establish new ones.
  • Write compelling statements of work and proposals that address client needs while maintaining profitability.

Client Relationship Management

  • Regularly engage with clients to strengthen and deepen relationships (travel is required).
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by providing strategic guidance tailored to clients’ long-term goals.
  • Partner with AL research leaders to recommend UX solutions and research programs based on deep UX research expertise and client-specific knowledge.
  • Deliver AnswerLab capabilities presentations and represent the brand at events, conferences, and industry networking opportunities.

Collaboration & Strategy

  • Partner with internal teams to scope and design UX research solutions.
  • Proactively identify and address opportunities to improve AnswerLab’s processes, client service, and brand presence.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to colleagues on client roadmaps and business strategies.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain accurate records of opportunities, meetings, and tasks in Salesforce and HubSpot.
  • Compile and organize quarterly account planning documents.
  • Address operational needs, such as client accounting questions and regulatory compliance.

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in sales
  • Proven track record of success in sales and business development, particularly in selling to Fortune 1,000 companies
  • Experience selling directly to tech companies and managing large accounts.
  • Expertise in the UX space or professional services is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain robust professional and personal relationships.
  • Proven ability to achieve sales targets consistently.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills to effectively engage clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to plan strategically and manage priorities effectively.
  • Time management skills with a history of meeting deadlines under pressure.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Commitment to acting with integrity, professionalism, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Enthusiasm for user experience and digital products, with a drive to contribute to client success.

Physical Requirements:

  • Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines
  • Travel is required (up to 30%)
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
