Job description

Legal Assistant - Remote | WFH

Job Overview

We are inviting a dedicated and compassionate Legal Assistant to join our esteemed Guardianship team. This full-time position operates on a 35-hour work week, from Monday to Friday, with the advantage of a flexible hybrid remote schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and draft legal correspondence, pleadings, and various documents pertinent to adult Guardianship and Conservatorship.
  • Coordinate the service of Probate Citations to clients and relevant interested parties.
  • Oversee an Outlook calendar to manage upcoming court hearings, meetings, pre-trial conferences, and important deadlines.
  • Assist in the management and sale of client-owned real estate and personal property, including scheduling necessary maintenance and appraisals.
  • Maintain both physical legal files and a legal section within an electronic health record system.
  • Collect Bonds, medical documentation, and other essential records for hearings.
  • File legal pleadings by hand, mail, or through an e-filing system.
  • Execute clerical tasks, such as initiating legal files for new clients, preparing files for case reviews, answering calls and emails, and organizing meetings.
  • Engage in occasional travel to courts for filing or to client properties to meet with contractors.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in drafting legal documents and correspondence.
  • Strong organizational capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage Outlook calendars and adhere to court deadlines.
  • Experience in maintaining both physical and electronic legal files.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic clerical abilities, including filing and scheduling tasks.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • A minimum of three years of office experience is essential.
  • Experience in probate, real estate, or elder law is an advantage but not mandatory.
