Job description

Newport News, Virginia

This position is eligible for remote work for candidates residing in the following states: FL, GA, ID, KS, KY, MS, NC, OK, PA*, SC, SD, TN, VA.  *Some county exclusions may apply.

Overview
Manages, coordinates and implements the Charge Description Master ("CDM"). Performs analysis of ACD requests, using professional judgement to determine appropriateness of request before approving. Performs annual review of charge master, along with quarterly updates and audits, and develops solutions. Coordinates the work for the CDM team.

What you will do

  • Maintains a complete, accurate and standardized charge master. Conducts annual review of Charge Master and quarterly updates. Maintains and updates all charge master related software.
  • Processes CDM requests to ensure all additions, changes and deletions are consistent with proper charging, billing, coding and pricing practices.
  • Provides analysis and assistance to all levels of clinical management in support of changes to the CDM.
  • Distributes and provides education on all coding and billing regulatory requirements.
  • Completes ACD requests and reviews department charge tickets and charge capture policies and procedures.
  • Analyzes data within the CDM and assigns accurate CPT/HCPCS and revenue codes to the Charge Master ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinates the work for the CDM team.
  • Conducts quarterly audits of Corporate CDM against all individual department CDM systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitors and works charge review and account work queues. Identifies trends in charges and notifies management.
  • Develops solutions to improve coding and billing functions.


Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
  • Bachelors Degree, Business Administration, Finance or related field (Preferred)


Experience

  • 2 years Revenue Cycle or Charge Description Master (Required)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) (Preferred)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt - Riverside Health System (RHS) (Preferred)
  • CRCR - Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) (Preferred)
