Purpose
The Product Manager’s primary responsibilities include managing the product(s) line life cycle from inception and strategic direction through to the execution of tactical activities needed to keep the product(s) growing and relevant in their respective marketplace. This person will manage products from existing ideas and assist in developing new ideas based on industry insights based on market research. This person is familiar with the software design and development process, which allows this person to successfully manage products on a roadmap. This individual is responsible for defining customer requirements for any given software application and work closely with the software development team in ensuring those requirements are addressed. The Product Manager is expected to work independently, make decisions on matters of significance, and need little direct supervision.
Essential Functions
- Identify market trends, maintain market definitions, contribute to market/pricing research, and synthesize competitive intelligence.
- Set, communicate, drive & monitor product line strategic plan including the vision, goals initiatives and roadmap. Contribute to product family strategic plan.
- Maintain the product roadmap, drive release planning preparation, define the product epics and features and work collaboratively with product development to analyze requirements, document workflows, design features, provide business requirements for 3rd party products and sign off on product feature completeness.
- Maintain and refine business plans and cases for existing products including business model, product offerings, pricing strategies, forecasts in partnership with sales and finance.
- Work with Product Management leadership to identify, negotiate and manage business partnerships with 3rd party vendors specific to your product line.
- Engage with prospective and current clients to identify user and buyer personas, gather customer needs, gain input on feature prioritization and design, assist with product sales and address product satisfaction issues.
- Support sales by supporting product training and demos, completing RFPs, gathering product feedback and analyzing win/loss data.
- Collaborate with marketing to define and execute product naming, positioning, messaging and marketing plans.
- Identifies risk to the organization and communicates that risk to management, and protect confidential information, including, but not limited to, business trade secrets and protected health information

Skills needed to be successful
- Demonstrate a basic mastery in synthesizing information into strategies that include visions, goals and initiatives.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills. Able to develop internal and client facing presentations on their own.
- Strong ability in planning, executing, tracking and delivering multiple projects at a time.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to focus on what is most important.
- Adapt quickly and make decisions with limited information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build strong working relationships.
- Successfully able to lead meetings, set agendas, facilitate brainstorming, achieve decisions and distribute minutes and actions.
- Technical fluency including strong analytical skills, demonstrated ability to apply software technology, intimacy with various software development lifecycles.
- Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory operations and regulations.
Required Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Biological Sciences or equivalent experience.
- 5 years in a software product management or product ownership role, including 3 years in food & beverage safety. Experience supporting laboratory testing, other ancillary services or population/case management a plus OR a combination of education and related working experience form which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.
Preferred Experience & Education
- MBA and/or Master’s in Health Administration, Information Management, or Computer Science

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position who is generally within the range of $94,000 to $129,00 for annual base salary. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay may be above or below this range.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds with assistance as part of office routine
- Travel may be required
- Moderate lifting/carrying 15-44 lbs.; use of fingers; walking/standing 2-6 hours
- Exposure to hazardous materials or various weather conditions
- Travel to client sites that can pose risk associated with healthcare organization
- May be required to follow customer location health and safety requirements
