SUMMARY
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Tax is a critical member of the corporate tax team with responsibilities in the areas of Tax Compliance, Tax Accounting, and Tax Planning and Research. This candidate supports the Corporate Tax Department by participating in assignments related to the above areas as well as special projects. The majority of time will be spent on tax compliance and provisions, but independent research and consulting will be necessary. Key responsibilities include examining the tax ramifications of transactions and discussing various consequences, reading and applying tax laws and regulations, searching out and evaluating options, computing taxes, completing tax returns, and collaborating with team members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Financial:
· Assists in the preparation and filing of consolidated quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provision calculations and footnote.
· Assist with preparing US federal and state income tax returns including collecting and analyzing financial data, tax return supporting schedules, including tax consolidations, tax depreciation, and state apportionment.
· Assists with preparing estimated tax payments and extensions.
· Assists with preparing GAAP and Statutory financial statement tax provisions including the supporting deferred tax calculation, tax disclosures and footnotes, and quarterly tax accounts reconciliations.
· Gathers, organizes, and prepares data in support of the various tax provision processes. Contributes to forecasting effective tax rates. Interacts with accounting firms on GAAP and Statutory tax provisions, footnotes and disclosures.
· Assists other tax department personnel with special projects including, but not limited to, developing tax, GAAP, and statutory accounting positions, policies, and procedures.
· Assists with preparing and/or contributes to the development of tax technical memorandums/position papers as assigned.
· Complete federal, state and local tax research as needed.
Customer:
· Coordinate and interact with outside accounting firms for certain outsourced tax return preparation services and other projects as needed.
· Assist with tax audits, including sales tax audits, as needed.
Business Process:
· Participates in cross-functional teams representing the Corporate Tax Department on both Finance and Company-wide initiatives.
· Participate in tax purchase accounting, acquisition integration, and other ad-hoc tax projects.
· Assist in researching and resolving tax notices and audits in foreign and domestic jurisdictions.
· Ensure and document compliance with internal controls. Coordinate and update process documentation as needed.
Professional Development:
· Stays current by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical material, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Degree in Finance or Accounting;
· 3 to 5 years of experience, with responsibility for federal, and international subsidiary tax responsibilities.
· Experience with tax provisions under ASC 740 is required.
· Proven experience as a Senior Tax Associate or a similar role.
· In-depth knowledge of US tax law and regulations at the federal, state, and local level is an asset
· Experience in corporate tax, international tax, and indirect taxation i.e. S&U Tax, VAT, etc.
· Strong experience in tax advisory, tax accounting, and tax research.
· Experience with NetSuite, Blackline, and Sure Tax/Other Corporate Tax software solutions are an asset.
