The base salary range for a Disability Tax Reporting Analyst is 44,000 - 71,000. Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company tenure and equity. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.
Disability Tax Reporting Analyst Overview
The role of the Disability Tax Reporting Analyst is to ensure accurate and timely reporting of disability tax information and plays a key role in identifying opportunities for business process improvement within the tax reporting function, as well as claims department. This position is responsible for analyzing tax data related to disability benefits, deductions, and credits to ensure compliance with regulations and related functions associated with the company's payment of disability claims. This position is also responsible for evaluating current processes, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing solutions to streamline operations and enhance overall efficiency.
Essential Duties
- Analyzes disability tax data to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve tax reporting processes
- Develops and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Provides guidance and support to internal stakeholders on disability tax reporting matters
- Stays current on tax laws and regulations related to disability benefits
- Ensures timely and accurate deposit of withheld taxes from disability claims payments, as well as timely and accurate filing of quarterly Forms 941 related to these claims
- Ensures accuracy of W-2 and FICA match elections contained in the company's administration system, preparation, and distribution of disability claim Forms W-2 to claimants on or before Jan 31 of each year and related preparation and transmittal of electronic files to the Social Security Administration
- Provides timely customer service related to all of the above pursuant to IRS requirements
- Demonstrates high level of courtesy and professionalism in all conversations, emails, and written communications, troubleshooting and conflict-management with and between employers, claimants, agents/brokers, internal operations personnel, Internal Revenue Service personnel and reinsurer personnel while exhibiting professional judgment and technical expertise associated with disability tax rules
- Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree - related experience can substitute
- Requires a minimum of 1 year of related experience in tax reporting
- Or, equivalent military experience
Preferred Education and Experience
- Certification(s) may be desired
- Familiar with disability tax regulations and experience ensuring compliance with regulations
