Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY

 

The Manager, Public Relations & Social Media will support PR (70%) and social media (30%) efforts across all countries in Southeast Asia outside of Japan and Greater China. This position executes the global corporate communications strategy and facilitates the regional implementation and regional strategy to support retention and growth of member hotels, while serving as a key interface between the company, media and member hotels. The role works to elevate brand awareness among consumer and trade media audiences while acting as a strategic local leader and source of information for member hotels. 

 

Primary areas of PR responsibility include proactively identifying and suggesting relevant opportunities to create brand exposure among influential editorial platforms, executing the PR strategy in the region, and optimizing coverage of Preferred Travel Group’s two main B2C brands, Preferred Hotels & Resorts and Beyond Green across diverse media outlets, working with internal and external audiences to identify angles and opportunities. Relationship building and management of key partners and vendors is very important in this role. Primary areas of social media responsibility include implementation of regional social media tactics working cohesively with the wider global strategy, this includes content creation, supporting with scheduling content, and partnering with local 

influencers. 

 

There is frequent interaction with hoteliers and media, and regular travel is required.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

 

Led by the Senior Vice President, Public Relations & Corporate Communication, the global Corporate Communications team members are located across the United States, London, Singapore, Beijing, and Tokyo. Under the general supervision of the Director Public Relations & Social Media - EMEA and with a dotted line to the Senior Global Social Media Manager, the Manager works closely with all regional colleagues in Southeast Asia to ensure alignment of market objectives and strategies. The Manager works in partnership with the wider Corporate Communications team, Global Marketing team, sales and revenue optimization teams. 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Execute activities outlined within the corporate communications (PR and social media) plan, as directed by the Director, Public Relations & Social Media - EMEA, targeting trade and consumer media audiences in region; proactively brainstorm and identify regional opportunities and prepare sub-plans for specific regional projects to be executed upon approval
  2. Research, draft, and distribute PR materials (i.e. press release, pitches, etc.) that align with regional goals and objectives; follow up with regional media, as appropriate to generate positive news coverage of Preferred Hotels & Resorts and Beyond Green, its programs, and member hotels
  3. Foster productive relationships with journalists and influencers across the region, with an objective of building strong brand awareness for the company, elevating its profile, and generating impactful editorial coverage
  4. Fulfill traditional PR responsibilities related to regional media activities such as handling media requests for images and information; compiling activity recap reports; securing consistent and quality media placements via active pitching efforts via phone, email, and in-person media interactions; coordinating individual media stay requests; building, organizing, and maintaining internal lists of regional media, as well as editorial calendars; and serving as the day-to-day contact for media 
  5. Organize media activations for both journalists and influencers, including events and deskside tours for key executives, as directed
  6. Secure interviews and other thought leadership opportunities for executive team and regional leaders 
  7. Provide guidance to member hotels on the best practices for working with the PR team and generating traction with key media 
  8. Update global media tracker with regional activity
  9. Collaborate with other public relations team members based in London, New York City, Beijing, and Tokyo to develop inspirational content that drives media conversations regionally and globally
  10. Provide guidance to member hotels on the best practices for working with the PR & Social Media team and generating traction with key media, as part of an overall responsibility to help increase hotel member engagement with our tactics across the social media & PR disciplines
  11. Support fulfillment of traditional social media responsibilities such as drafting and scheduling regional content for the monthly social media calendars; monitoring platforms; managing social media coverage reports; building relationships and liaising with local influencer targets to arrange hotel stays and secure content, etc.  
  12. Stay up-to-date on industry trends to positively impact and improve public relations and social media efforts executed on behalf of the brand
  13. Accept additional duties and other responsibilities, as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Minimum three - five years of experience in a communications position (i.e. corporate communications, public relations, marketing, social media)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and at least one additional regional language 
  • Experience in travel, hospitality, and tourism marketing preferred; agency experience preferred
  • Proven relationships with Asia Pacific media outlets, journalists, editors, and social media influencers who specialize in travel and hospitality
  • Technology and web savvy with proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience in measuring and tracking KPIs, and making strategic recommendations based on results
  • Knowledge of effective social media practices on key social media channels, specifically Facebook, Instagram, X, and TikTok 
  • Experience with social media scheduling tools and content creation apps 
  • Excellent project management and interpersonal skills 
  • Educated to degree level or show a similar level of professional development
  • Highly organized self-starter, motivated and results oriented 
  • This position will consist of 10-20% travel outside the office

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

This role follows a hybrid working model, with a base at the Preferred Travel Group office located in Singapore. Associates are generally expected to work from the office 2-3 days per week, allowing for a balance of in-person collaboration and flexible remote working.
