Job description

Working At Bitso

We are a diverse team that takes pride in understanding the perspectives of others. We fully embrace working remotely and we are eager to act, improve and accelerate progress inside and outside of our organization.

To drive revolutionary changes in society and make crypto useful, we delight our customers with world-class products, deep care, and intentional empathy.

Your Purpose

As a leader, you will oversee a team of professionals dedicated to securely building, maintaining, and continuously enhancing our cloud and on-prem systems to support company-wide operations. You will collaborate closely with multiple teams, including the Platform team, to ensure our systems are robust, reliable, and meet operational needs.

While we embrace a "security-first" mindset, compliance remains a critical focus. You will take ownership of ensuring that our infrastructure meets all relevant security and regulatory requirements, fostering a secure and compliant environment across the organization.

Reports To

Security Engineering Manager

Who You Are

  • 4+ years of leadership experience managing and mentoring technical teams in infrastructure security.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent time and project management skills, with a history of driving complex security initiatives and delivering results on schedule.
  • Eager and comfortable with building and scaling teams in a fast-paced environment, where processes and structures are still evolving and/or need to be defined.
  • Expertise in AWS, including hands-on experience with security services such as IAM, Systems Manager, Inspector, Secrets Manager, and GuardDuty.
  • Extensive experience in IAM governance, designing and implementing robust models to ensure secure and efficient access control.
  • Proficiency with Identity Providers (IdPs), such as Okta.
  • Strong background in containerization technologies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform.
  • Familiarity with security monitoring tools (e.g., SIEMs like Splunk).

Nice to Have

The following qualifications are not mandatory but would be valuable:

  • Experience working with Mexican regulatory bodies such as CNBV, the Bank of Mexico, or other government entities across LATAM.
  • Familiarity with the Mexican Fintech Law and its implications for infrastructure and security compliance.
  • Knowledge of the SPEI system, including its integration, security requirements, and operational processes.
  • Knowledge or experience in physical security.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the team to the next level by enhancing organizational structure, including defining on-call schedules, career development paths, and other key operational processes.
  • Enhance the overall security posture of our infrastructure by driving initiatives to implement best practices, align with established security standards, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • You will be expected to balance your time equally between 70% managerial responsibilities and 30% operational tasks. This role requires a hands-on approach, where you'll actively engage in the work and drive results.
  • This position is remote, but occasional travel to our facilities in Mexico will be required, averaging one to two times per year
  • Due to the nature of this role, you will be expected to participate in on-call schedules and respond promptly whenever an incident arises.

Research in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion suggests that individuals may hesitate to apply for jobs if they do not meet all the listed criteria. At Bitso, we value diversity and your unique strengths could be just what we're looking for. If this role excites you but you don't match every point in the description, we still want to hear from you.
