Job description

Every day, the world gets more digital thanks to tens of millions of developers building the future faster than ever. But with exponential growth comes exponential risk, as outnumbered security teams struggle to secure mountains of code. This is where Snyk (pronounced “sneak”) comes in. Snyk is a developer security platform that makes it easy for development teams to find, prioritize, and fix security vulnerabilities in code, dependencies, containers, and cloud infrastructure — and do it all right from the start. Snyk is on a mission to make the world a more secure place by empowering developers to develop fast and stay secure.

Joining Snyk means embracing our core values: One Team, Care Deeply, Customer Centric, and Forward Thinking. As a member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to thrive in a dynamic environment where fostering collaboration, leading with empathy, driving business impact, and inspiring trust are at the heart of everything we do.

Our Opportunity

Snyk, a leader in developer security, has acquired Probely, a modern Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) provider based in Portugal, with coverage of API security testing and web applications. We are looking for a talented Senior Technical Writer who loves writing technical documentation to help us improve our customers' experience and journey to achieve the security of their web applications and APIs.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of creating technical documentation for new products or services, establish documentation structures, templates, and guidelines, and ensure content is easy to navigate and scalable. For that, you'll gain a deep understanding of the product inside and out, work closely with the team that creates it, and understand customers' goals, workloads, and use cases. You'll also be responsible for documenting our API and our Developer's site.

You’ll Spend Your Time:

  • Writing helpful, accurate, well-organized, consistent, and highly effective content.
  • Writing API Documentation and assist in API Design.
  • Actively participate in agile development team meetings and represent the interests of the product documentation team.
  • Use the product, test each feature and workflow, become an expert user, and provide feedback to product development teams.
  • Collaborating with software developers, designers, and product managers about new features and upcoming product changes.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally to align product documentation with other forms of customer enablement content.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally to align lead generation content with the product, customers' goals, and use cases.
  • Coordinating and prioritize multiple documentation projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality content.

What You’ll Need:

  • 4+ years of technical writing experience for Developers, Security Experts, IT operations, DevOps, or DevSecOps audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in technical writing, English, communications, computer science, or a related study area.
  • Native English or equivalent, with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • The ability to quickly learn complex concepts and technologies and clearly explain them to others within the target audience's context.
  • Experience with documentation tools and platforms such as Docs as Code, GitLab, OpenAPI, Markdown, Docusaurus or similar software.
  • The ability to fulfill the role's information design, writing, and editing components.

We’d be Lucky if You:

  • Excellent content planning and organization skills.
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

#LI-CR1

We care deeply about the warm, inclusive environment we’ve created and we value diversity – we welcome applications from those typically underrepresented in tech. If you like the sound of this role but are not totally sure whether you’re the right person, do apply anyway!
