Join RSK Africa as a Mid-Level Biodiversity Consultant and work on exciting and impactful projects across Southern and East Africa. As part of RSK’s growing international team, with strong links to RSK Biocensus, you will collaborate on projects that drive biodiversity excellence and contribute to sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct biodiversity assessments, including IFC Performance Standard 6 compliance, across multiple sectors and geographies
- Coordinate and lead field surveys, supervise specialist ecologists, and provide technical oversight for biodiversity-related projects
- Develop biodiversity management plans, offset strategies, and nature-based solutions to mitigate ecological impacts
- Engage directly with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders to design scopes of work, prepare proposals, and deliver impactful projects
- As a Biocensus resource you will collaborate with RSK international project teams, to deliver innovative biodiversity solutions while mentoring junior consultants. consult with stakeholders and effectively manage sub-consultants
- Manage project team workloads in collaboration with other senior team members to balance team wellbeing, utilisation, and client deliverables such that clients are satisfied, and projects are delivered safely, on time and in budget
- Manage project financial performance and meeting profit targets
- Speak at internal and external events where appropriate
- Willingness to travel within the continent
Person Specification:
- 4–8 years’ experience in biodiversity consultancy, particularly in energy, water, or extractive sectors in Africa
- Solid understanding of IFC Performance Standards and practical experience in biodiversity impact assessments
- SACNASP registration (or eligibility for registration) is preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse geographies and time zones
- Ability to manage small scale projects, deliver results within deadlines, and adapt to dynamic client needs
- Expertise in a specific biodiversity-related discipline (e.g., botany, aquatic ecology) is a plus
- Experience in biodiversity offsets, ecosystem services, or nature-based solutions is advantageous
- Language skills (French, Portuguese, or Spanish) are highly desirable
