Job description

Directive Consulting is the performance marketing agency for SaaS and Tech companies. We use Customer Generation (a marketing methodology developed by us) which focuses on SQLs and Customers instead of traditional metrics like MQLs. We offer Paid Media, SEO/Content, CRO, and Video to our clients by creating comprehensive digital marketing strategies that allow our clients to hit their SQL targets, every time.

At Directive, we’re always looking ahead to connect with talented professionals who excel at crafting strategies that elevate search visibility, developing compelling content, and delivering value to audiences.

As we continue to grow, we’re always seeking forward-thinking individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, are obsessed with analytics and storytelling, and are eager to make their mark in B2B tech and SaaS marketing.

If you're ready to explore future opportunities and be part of a team that values creativity, strategy, and results, we’d love to connect with you!

As the Editorial Lead, you’ll be responsible for identifying opportunities for deeper research and technical details, clear analysis, and punchier copy. You’ll need to be a sharp and savvy editor who can help writers turn an initial draft into something great, guide both new and experienced technical writers through tricky pieces, and quickly edit copy, shaping it to be as exceptional as possible.

Directive’s Editorial Lead will work on a broad scope of content. You’ll need to be able to jump from a deep dive on data encrypted end-to-end digital vault platforms, to an experiential piece on emerging cybersecurity tech, to a biting thought-leadership piece on why developers are seeking alternatives to javascript - all in the space of an afternoon while bringing insight and clarity to every one. A comfort with a range of topics and tones is essential, and the ability to identify what type of perspective is needed for any given piece of content is a must.

This individual will also come with a network of freelance writers and will help us build our network of high-quality, sub-specialized writers to meet the needs of our clients. We pride ourselves on unparalleled SaaS expertise and we work with top talent in the industry, this Lead Editor & Producer will help ensure that our growing content marketing department continues to recruit the best and the brightest writers.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Mentor and lead writers across our team to improve and scale their content and delegating and distributing workload to ensure content meets publishing timing and SLAs

  • Review and edit content from contributors to ensure proper brand voice, grammar, format, styling, and alignment with established content best practices

  • Maintain, implement and update Directive content best practices and ensure that the standards are being met for every piece of content delivered to clients

  • Demand quality and enforce our rigorous editorial standards day in and out.

  • Be responsible for editing multiple pieces of content daily, from short-turnaround pieces to longer-term thought-leadership pieces

  • Support multiple stakeholders on the product marketing teams to publish relevant content that includes news, up-and-coming features, events, and more; And answer ad hoc questions relating to upcoming content planning, blogging best practices, process, SLAs, and reporting

  • Support curation, planning, and editing of special content packages like ebooks, toolkits and resource guides

  • Contribute editing support across multiple formats, working with our audio and video teams on multimedia storytelling

  • Shape our content with great perspectives and sharp angles, while aligning to client’s tone+voice guidelines, product positioning documents and persona ICP maps

  • Organize, schedule, and facilitate editorial meetings with stakeholders / clients and strategists to ensure high-quality content is delivered to clients, and delivering constructive feedback from clients back to our writers

What You Offer

  • 5+ years of editorial leadership experience and experience managing a team of freelance writers either for a client, product or major publication

  • Sharp editing skills and the ability to know how to make every piece of content great

  • Deeply organized, but ready to blow up their plans to meet the chaos of quick client turnaround needs and deadlines

  • Passionate about B2B tech SaaS industry, specifically cybersecurity, fintech, etc. with experience in these spaces

  • Able to move fast while still delivering great work and upholding our editorial rigor

  • Excited to work with freelancers and in-house workers, alike, to bring in new voices (a great existing network is a major perk)

  • Extremely collaborative – you’ll be working with writers with varying levels of expertise, strategy team members and a variety of client POCs from growth engagement teams, product marketing teams, and C-Level executives at times.

  • Confidence in client-facing situations where you’ll need to work collaboratively to review content feedback and use that input to improve the content and update internal writing documentation for improved writing and workflows.
