We are currently hiring for a Palo Alto Security SME - Implementation for our IT infrastructure management consulting client.

Location: Canada , EST - remote

Rate: $100-130/hr CAD C2C depending on experience

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 2 months initially + potential extensions

Job Description

World Wide Technology (WWT) is seeking an experienced Palo Alto Networks (PAN) Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide advanced security engineering implementations and support for the Basecamp environment at client. This position will support the ongoing migration of applications and infrastructure into the PAN environment, ensuring client's systems are secured and optimized according to best practices. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in PAN technology, IDS/IPS solutions, and is proficient in both AWS cloud and on-premise infrastructures, as well as both project and operational environments.

This role requires a skilled IT professional with progressive experience in network security design, engineering, and administration, capable of providing escalation support and managing complex enterprise networks. The PAN SME will operate as a client-facing asset, fostering a team-oriented approach to deliver solutions that align with client's business and technical goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Security Engineering Support: Provide advanced engineering support for Palo Alto network solutions within client's Basecamp environment, aiding in the transition and optimization of applications and infrastructure.
  • Design & Implementation: Drive the design, configuration, and deployment of Palo Alto firewalls and security solutions, integrating seamlessly with both AWS and on-premise environments to ensure alignment with best practices.
  • IDS/IPS Solutions: Manage and optimize IDS/IPS solutions, enhancing client's threat detection and response capabilities within the PAN ecosystem.
  • Operational Support: Provide ongoing support and maintenance for the PAN environment, including incident response, troubleshooting, and escalation support for network security issues.
  • Client Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor, establishing strong relationships with clients and advocating for security best practices, especially around hybrid (cloud and on-premise) security integrations.
  • Policy Development: Collaborate with the clients IT and security teams to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and security policies tailored to Sempras unique environment.
  • Technical Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, security architects, and network engineers, to identify current design challenges and deliver optimized solutions for both cloud and on-premise settings.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed documentation of configurations, processes, and procedures to support ongoing maintenance and scalability.

Required Qualifications

  • Palo Alto Expertise: Deep technical experience with high-end Palo Alto firewall appliances and related security solutions within complex enterprise environments.
  • AWS and On-Premise Experience: Strong understanding of hybrid environments with experience supporting both AWS cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
  • IDS/IPS Solutions: Extensive experience with IDS/IPS solutions and technologies, with a proven track record in enhancing threat detection and prevention.
  • Network Security Skills: Proficient in network security design, troubleshooting, and engineering within medium to global enterprise network settings.
  • TCP/IP Networking: Strong TCP/IP networking skills, with a deep understanding of internet protocols, security threats, and application security.
  • Client-Facing Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with clients, communicate effectively, and deliver solutions aligned with business and technical objectives.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage and execute project lifecycles, from initial design to implementation and handover.
  • Technical Communication: Skilled in presenting technical solutions and concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Additional Technologies: Experience with Cisco technology solutions and familiarity with hybrid network environments.
  • Professional Services Experience: Previous experience working in a professional services or consulting role, with exposure to project-based and technical sales environments.
