Summary of Job Duties:
The Research Program Manager will manage the daily operations of the College of Nursing (CON) Research Support Office under the direction of the Associate Dean of Research (ADR) in the College of Nursing (CON). These operations include supervision of ADR research staff, projects management, and liaising with partners and colleagues across CON, UAMS and with external collaborators and consultants. The position will provide grants submission and pre-award grants management support for internal and external funding mechanisms, in conjunction with the CON Business Office and UAMS ORSP, and provide oversight of the grants post-award team in CON. Additionally, this position will provide oversight and management of the CON Intramural Grants Program, the CON Research Development meetings, and the quarterly CON Research Meetings. This position will also provide coordination for support for the CON PhD program under the direction of the CON PhD Program Director. The Research Program Manager will be responsible for managing the ADR research budget and coordination of research business processes with the CON Business Office.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in one of the social or behavioral sciences such as psychology, social work, public health, sociology, anthropology, health science or related field plus five (5) years of administrative research experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • UAMS Certified Research Specialist, must obtain within 1 year of employment.

  • Microsoft Office Suite experience.

  • Knowledge of NIH requirements.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly organized.

  • Detail-oriented.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Provides pre-award grants submission and post-award grants management support for internal and external funding mechanisms in conjunction with the CON Business Office, UAMS’ Grants Accounting and ORSP.

  • Reviews grant application guidance and develops comprehensive checklist and timeline for required component for each grant submission.

  • Provides assistance with editing and formatting of supporting documents (e.g. Letters of Support, Biosketches).

  • Provides grants budget development assistance in collaboration with the CON Business Office and ORSP.

  • Collaborates with the CON Business Office to provide post-award budget management.

  • Manages internal progress reporting.

  • Provides oversight for the development and maintenance of grants and metrics internal tracking.

  • Coordinates with the CON Business Office on external contracts (e.g., External Reviewers, external speakers);

  • Manages and trains research staff.

  • Provides guidance to CON Research Support Office staff for developing strategies to achieve goals and meet deadlines established by the ADR.

  • Manages staff meetings and subsequent action items.

  • Coordinates new staff onboarding and liaises with CON Business Office.

  • Manages assigned CON Research Support Office Staff (e.g., Program Manager and Research Assistants).

  • Manages CON Research Support Office committees (e.g. Biostatistics Committee), and the quarterly CON Research meetings.

  • Assists with planning of content for the meeting.

  • Creates agendas, minutes, and managing subsequent action items from each meeting.

  • Communicates with meeting participants to facilitate completion of tasks and achievement of meeting goals.

  • Identifies and invites guest speakers to present to the college of nursing; manages honorarium payments.

  • Identifies training opportunities for CON faculty.

  • Coordinates CON Research Development Meetings and Quarterly Research Meetings.

  • Develops grant support workshops, trainings, templates and processes to support the CON Intramural Grant Program.

  • Coordinates the CON Intramural Grant review committee meetings.

  • Meets regularly with ADR to review shadow budgets and manage shadow revisions.

  • Tracks expenses and coordinates with CON Business Office.

  • Submits requests to the CON Business Office to purchase supplies, equipment, and other items as needed.

  • Coordinates support for annual reporting, student tracking, and maintaining program metrics.

  • Assists with the coordination of the admission process.

  • Coordinates effective processes for the maintenance of electronic and paper records per UAMS Graduate School policy.

  • Meets regularly with the PhD Director to discuss goals and strategies related to enrollment/recruitment and overall support needs.

  • Delegates support tasks as appropriate.

  • Provides support for scheduling meetings, Blackboard support, and other PhD program processes as needed.

  • Assists with administrative duties (e.g., scheduling meetings, developing presentations and documents).

  • Manages the monthly CON Research Newsletter.

  • Provides support for individual ADR research.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
