About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patent Expert with extensive experience in managing patent processes across multiple countries, including China, Vietnam, the US, and the UK. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of international patent laws, intellectual property (IP) rights, and a proven track record of handling cross-border patent filings and ensuring compliance with global legal standards. This role requires close collaboration with inventors, engineers, and legal teams to protect intellectual property in various jurisdictions effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patent searches and assessments to determine patentability of new inventions in different countries, including China, Vietnam, the US, and the UK.
  • Prepare, file, and manage international patent applications, ensuring adherence to local and international patent requirements.
  • Liaise with inventors, engineers, and legal professionals to gather necessary technical and legal information for global patent filings.
  • Review and interpret patent laws and regulations across multiple countries, ensuring compliance with varying international standards.
  • Manage the patent prosecution process, including responding to office actions, handling rejections, and filing amendments for patents in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Oversee patent portfolio management, including tracking patent deadlines, handling maintenance fees, and ensuring timely renewals across different countries.
  • Provide strategic advice on potential patent infringements and assist with IP legal actions, especially in international markets.
  • Stay informed on changes in patent laws and IP regulations in different regions, providing insights to ensure global compliance.
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel and international patent offices for complex filings, IP disputes, and litigation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Law, or a related field; a law degree is an advantage.
  • Professional certification as a Patent Agent or Attorney.
  • 3+ years of experience in patent law or intellectual property management, with specific experience in filing and managing patents in China, Vietnam, the US, and the UK.
  • Strong knowledge of patent laws, international patent filing processes, and cross-border IP litigation.
  • Experience with international patent databases and search tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting complex legal documents.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with global, cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in managing patent filings in multiple countries is essential.
