Job description

This is a remote position.

The Client Network and Data Centre within the Information Technology department is seeking a senior middleware resource. This role involves supporting IBM applications, SAP Business Objects Enterprise (BOE) applications, middleware server infrastructure, and tooling software critical to the Clients business operations. The senior middleware resource will be responsible for executing essential tasks on the Clients business applications and projects to fulfill its operational requirements.

The Clients employs IBM and BOE solutions to manage its various organizational work streams through custom applications. The IBM and BOE application server infrastructure and associated tooling are integral to the development and operation of these applications. The Client utilizes the following IBM and BOE platform tools and libraries for implementing its custom Java applications:

a)IBM HTTP Server - Web server functions;

b)IBM WebSphere 8.0 - Java application server;

c)IBM MQ 9.1 - Java-based message queue server for managing Java messaging service requests;

d)IBM Security Directory Server - LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) for web application access permissions;

e)IBM CMS (Content Management Software) - document management;

f)IBM Rational Tools;

g)BOE Software Version V4.3;

h)Crystal Reports

The Client uses SAP BOE software as a major component in its business applications to generate reports to be stored at BOE storage or saved as a PDF file in the network folder. This PDF file can be stored within the business application or sent as correspondence to

external clients.

The Crystal Runtime Library is included in the class path of WebSphere Application Server profiles. The Client's API, integrated into the Task Engine and Event Engine enterprise applications, is developed in Java. A standalone Java application utilizes this

API as an external dependency. The JBatchDriver is designed to communicate with BOE via the Java SDK.

Requirements

Minimum eight (8) years of practical experience in a business application server implementation and support role within a Microsoft Windows environment; and
Previous advanced level experience in the support and maintenance of WebSphere application Server V9, IBM MQ V9, and SAP BOE V4 environments, including experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems and virtualization software Vmware, and WebSphere Server environment.
Experience in designing and developing automated test procedures and scripts using software aids such as Microsoft PowerShell;
Strong technical knowledge, analytical, and problem solving skills;
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to sudden changes in direction or priority;
Good time management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities;
Effective written and oral communication skills
Ability to perform the Services according to Client incident and change management process and procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities:

System administration activities necessary to support and maintain availability, performance, and security of the WebSphere Application Server, IBM MQ, and SAP BOE environments including Microsoft Windows operating systems and associated products;
Problem resolution activities that includes analyzing scope of problem, trouble shooting, and resolving incidents, according to defined policies and procedures;
Participate on project teams, and provide technical assistance/advice to internal staff;
Participate in the implementation, configuration, testing, and transition to production the upgrade to WebSphere Application Server, IBM MQ, and SAP BOE including:
Development of technical design;
Transforming the design documents into a working technical environment;
Data migration activities associated with the implementation;
Perform knowledge transfer to Client Information Technology support staff during the implementation.
