Why You’ll Love This Position

The Family And Children Electronic System (FACES) team supports the maintenance of 300+ screens and 1500+ modules within FACES and 20+ .NET applications for DSS Children's Division. The FACES team is looking for a highly motivated person to assist in enhancing and maintaining the FACES system. This is a high-level technical and supervisory position that maintains all components of the FACES system across multiple platforms, languages, and technologies in highly meaningful work for the children of our state. This position supervises a team of 5 to 8 employees, consisting of both Application Development and Quality Control functions. This position will also use years of experience to lead project specific teams in performing software analysis, design and coding.

This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the Department of Social Services (DSS).

This position will report to an Applications Development Manager within the FACES group. The successful candidate will:

  • Supervise, guide, develop and mentor a team of 5 to 8 employees using OA-ITSD supervisory standards.
  • Lead teams of developers in maintenance and development projects.
  • Continually deliver high quality solutions that exceed customer expectations and provide outstanding customer service.
  • Participate in all aspects of the System Development Life Cycle (Planning, Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, implementation, Maintenance, Documentation) as needed, while adhering to all ITSD development standards.
  • Ensure secure coding and comprehensive testing of all development work to achieve the highest quality releases possible.
  • Document and work to completion assigned tickets including bug fixes and enhancements to various system components.
  • Become familiar with the business processes that govern how the FACES system components are developed.
  • Learn and develop new skills through various training opportunities.
  • Participate in weekend and evenings on-call support rotation after an initial training period.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills to communicate effectively with customers, peers, and management is necessary.
  • Ability to work with others as part of a fast paced, high performing team.
  • Aptitude and desire to quickly learn new technologies and effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical people.
  • Ability to prioritize, assign and work on multiple projects/tasks in a fast-paced environment and adapt easily to changing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with COBOL, DB2, and SQL is required.
  • Experience with JCL and TSO is highly desired.
  • Experience with the concepts of Project Management is a plus.
  • Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
