Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is seeking a Manager, Accounting, to join our dynamic team in the renewable energy industry. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter with strong communication skills and a commitment to accuracy. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role will oversee billing and accounts payable functions, ensuring efficient and compliant financial operations while managing and mentoring a team.

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee operational accounting functions, including project accounting and revenue recognition.
  • Manage project billings, including milestone and progress invoicing, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to clients.
  • Ensure accurate accounts payable processing and vendor payments, collaborating with Procurement, Contracts, Goods Receipt, and Project Management teams.
  • Monitor compliance with contracts, lien waiver requirements, and company policies.
  • Reconcile project billings, costs, AP sub-ledger, GRNI sub-ledger, and AP intercompany balances during month-end close.
  • Post accounts payable accruals and lead month-end/year-end close processes for billings and payables.
  • Develop and implement improved workflows and systems for billing and AP operations.
  • Support cash flow management by tracking receivables and coordinating client collections.
  • Prepare or assist with project financial reports, including forecasts, budgets, and cost-to-complete analyses.
  • Collaborate with project managers to review change orders, contract terms, and cost implications.
  • Manage project close-out processes and support audits as required.
  • Train and mentor the Accounts Payable Manager and Staff Accountants, providing feedback, coaching, and career development.
  • Prepare, review, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Drive continual process and procedural improvements.
  • Provide timely audit support to external auditors following year-end.

Must-Haves:

  • 5+ years of project accounting experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing multi-person teams.
  • Strong knowledge of project billing structures, cost management principles, and GAAP.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

 Nice-to-Haves:

  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with software implementation.
  • Strong process documentation and improvement experience

 Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is required.

 Working Environment and Physical Demand:

  • This position can be remote, preferably within comfortable travel distance of one of our BRP office locations in Asheville, NC.
  • The position works in an office environment.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring the ability to balance multiple assignments.
  • Must be able to work independently, raise issues, and propose solutions.
  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer for extended periods.
