Job Description:

AWS Support Engineer

This position is office based at Comms-care HQ (CW9 7UA)

We are looking for an experienced AWS Support Engineer to manage, monitor, and troubleshoot our cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this role you will handle escalated tickets from first-line support, resolve complex cloud issues, and ensure the security and performance of our AWS environment. You’ll also contribute to architecture improvements, automation, and cloud optimisation.


As AWS Support Engineer you will -

  • Take ownership of second-line incidents escalated from the 1st Line Support team ensuring timely resolution.

  • Troubleshoot AWS-related issues, such as network configurations, connectivity problems, and system performance issues.

  • Manage and maintain cloud-based systems and services on AWS, ensuring availability, scalability, and performance.

  • Handle system monitoring and health checks across various AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, and VPC.

  • Work closely with 3rd line engineers, solution architects, and developers to resolve complex issues and implement long-term fixes.

  • Automate routine tasks such as backups, updates, and system scaling using AWS tools like CloudFormation, AWS CLI, and Lambda.

  • Develop scripts for system maintenance, automation of incident resolution, and performance tuning (e.g., using Python, PowerShell, or Bash).

  • Maintain and update system documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures related to AWS infrastructure.

In order to set you up for success we are looking for the following skills and experience

  • Strong knowledge of AWS core services (EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda).

  • Experience with automation and scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash).

  • Familiarity with AWS CloudWatch, CloudFormation, and infrastructure-as-code tools.

  • Proficiency with Linux or Windows Server in a cloud environment.

  • Solid understanding of AWS security best practices (IAM, encryption, VPN).
