Job Description
Experienced Operations Research/Applied Statistician
HII is seeking an experienced TE professional to join a rapidly growing organization supporting TE across the Department of Defense (DoD) and Homeland Security (HS).
What do we do?
Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) is seeking an operations researcher or applied statistician to support the Scientific Test and Analysis Techniques Center of Excellence (STAT COE), located at Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
This is a technical support position on a dynamic team: we integrate with test teams and develop test strategies, rigorous test designs, and support analysis for complex systems. We are at the forefront of applying advanced statistical techniques to TE and are constantly exploring new methodologies. Your desire to continually improve and self-educate is a must to succeed in this dynamic work environment.
The STAT COE provides tremendous professional growth opportunities to improve your technical knowledge, hone your practical skills, and broaden your experience. Both degree level and experience will be considered.

- Communicate solutions to leadership orally and in writing, clearly and accurately
- Develop recommendations, best practices, and case studies (post at www.afit.edu/STAT)
- Potential to present at technical conferences (e.g. Military Operations Research Society, Fall Technical Conference, DataWorks spring conference, International Test and Evaluation Association, Joint Statistical Meeting)
- Teach one- to five-day courses on rigorous TE methods and design of experiments
The STAT COE is in Dayton, OH and we prefer to have the team co-located. However, we may consider a remote hire if you are located near a major TE hub (e.g. Eglin, Edwards, Patuxent River, Huntsville, Aberdeen). Full time or part time will be considered.
