Role Summary:
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes, preparing month-end closings, and ensuring compliance with Australian tax regulations. This role requires attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions and reporting, with a primary focus on GST and BAS preparation. The Bookkeeper will interact with clients on routine bookkeeping inquiries, adhering to productivity targets and high standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Management: Process weekly AP and AR transactions, reconcile accounts, and ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial data.
  • Month-End Closing: Prepare and finalize monthly financial reports, including reconciliation of accounts, bank statements, and necessary adjustments for accuracy.
  • BAS Preparation and Lodgement: Draft Business Activity Statements (BAS) for review and manage lodgement, ensuring compliance with GST requirements and timely submission.
  • Client Communication: Provide support for client inquiries related to routine bookkeeping tasks, escalating complex issues to senior team members as necessary.
  • Quality Control and Compliance: Maintain compliance with Australian tax regulations, specifically GST and BAS standards, ensuring accuracy in all transactions.
  • Weekly and Monthly KPIs: Meet productivity goals by completing 20-25 weekly client bookkeeping days and finalizing records for 26 monthly clients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Australian bookkeeping.
  • Xero certification and strong knowledge of GST/BAS processes.
  • Experience in a BPO, CPA, or public practice environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AP/AR management, bank reconciliation, and month-end procedures.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work independently to meet productivity targets.
